The North Webster (Barbee Lakes) Boy Scout Troop no. 48 took part in the Klondike Derby at Pioneer Trails Scout camp near Indian Village the first week in February. The troop, newly organized in November, stayed in cabins on Friday night near their leader’s home, going to the scout camp on Sunday. Their scoutmaster is Rex Lawson of Barbee lake. was six foot long, two foot wide and three foot high made of native lumber. The troop took part in eight events and gained 33 nuggets out of a possible 40. There were eight scouts out of 12 who attended. Members of troop 48 attended church in a group on Scout Sunday, Feb. 9, attending the Barbee Community church, a nondenominational church.
