Blue-Baugher Wedding In Ligonier Presbyterian Church

Miss Joyce Ellen Blue of Ligonier and Robert Lee Baugher of Fort Wayne were united in marriage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Ligonier Presbyterian church. Parents of the bridal couple are Mrs. Graydon Blue and the late Graydon M. Blue of Ligonier and Mrs. Raymond Silveus of Sarasota, Fla., and Robert Baugher of Syracuse. J Lovely Bride The lovely bride chose a princess line white velvet gown featuring a deep front pleat from the bodice with a short scalloped lace jacket enhanced by a hand sewn pearl in the center of each flower. She wore a length Spanish lace mantilla and carried a cascade of phalenopsis orchids and ivy centered with a white rose corsage and'*a fall of white satin ribbons. Miss Rita Blue of Ligonier served her sister as maid of honor and Mrs. Stephen Hursey, Sumter, S. C., also a sister of the bride, and Miss Jane Halsey, Cromwell, were bridesmaids. They wore gowns of ruby red

The bridegroom is a graduate of Syracuse high school, U. S. navy radar school and attended Ball State university. He is a salesman for Davis auto in Fort Wayne.

LIGONIER NEWS By Rose Cunningham Boy Scouts Conduct March Os Dimes Canvas Boy scouts of the city will be conducting the annual March of Dimes house - to-house canvas, Thursday evening, Feb. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. Members of the Ligonier fire department will be supervising the project and residents are asked to leave their porch lights turned on for the boys. School Calendar Approved By Board Tuesday The 1969-70 school calendar was approved at Tuesday nights’ meeting of the West Noble school board. Members heard a report that all contracts have been signed for the new West Noble high school and the gneral contractor, Ashley Hawk, is now obtaining permits necessary for construction. The REMC will be furnishing the electricity for the building. Superintendent Glen K. Longenbaugh and Harold Knepper will attend the convention of A. A.S.A. in Atlantic City from February 15 through 19. ’two remedial reading teachers, Mrs. Louise Hague and Mrs. Marvey Sponhauer, will attend the 14th annual convention of the International Reading Association to be held in Kansas City, Mo., from April 30 through May 3. Board members moved to invest $325,999 in government bills. Perry Twp. Club Has February Meeting Perry Township Homemakers Extension club women held their February meeting in the Eagles Hall Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Forrest Slabaugh and Mrs. Arthur Cbuts as hostesses. “Making Your Retiring Years Happy Ones’*, was the subject of the project lesson given by Mrs. Dean Hite. Other topics of interest were discussed by Mrs. Earnest Shell, Mrs. Forrest Slabaugh and Mrs. David Dunlap. Devotions were in charge of Mrs. Florence Roe.

Stop Light To Be Reinstalled It now appears that Ligonier’s controversial stop light at the corner of Cavin and Third streets will be reinstalled in the near future. State Representative Ellsworth Peterson, with the assistance of representaive Richard Shank, has been endeavoring to obtain this objective. He has now been assured by the district superintendent of the Indiana State Highway department, Lee Rush, that the much needed light would be re-installed. Several Men In Hospital Several prominent men of the area are in hospitals following heart attacks. Don Robbins, publisher of the Cromwell Advance, suffered a serious attack last Monday night and is a patient in Goshen hospital. Several weeks ago, Kermit Simmons, township trustee, was stricken and although brought home last Friday, was taken back to LaGrange County hospital Wednesday morning. Another victim of a severe attack was Don Kellam, co-owner of Food Town Market, stricken last week while getting ready for their grand opening. Don is in room 311 at Goshen hospital. Drama Club Has Initiation Monday The West Noble Drama club held its initiation Monday evening in the Ligonier study hall. If a new member did not show up for this meeting he was penalized by being “asked” to wear a classical costume to school and also recite memorized material to members. MISS BLUE GRADUATES Miss Joyce Blue has graduated from Ray Vogue school of fashion merchandising, Chicago. Mrs Graydon Blue and Miss Rita Blue attended the graduation ceremonies in that city last week HOME FROM TEXAS TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hite have returned from a two weeks’ vacation trip to Texas. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moser and James Simpson of Ligonier who are spending the winter months at San Juan and called on friends in several Texas cities. Their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Cruser of Bloomington accompanied them.

Miss Miriam Lou Brown became the bride of Cpl. John Anderson Wogoman on January 25 in the Dunlap United Methodist church. Rev. Bride in Chantilly Lace The bride, given in marriage by her father and mother, appeared in a gown of imported Chantilly lace and delustered peau featuring a lace bodice, rounded neckline with seed pearl trim and long tapered sleeves. The A-line skirt with detachable train falling from mid-back was trimmed with two dainty bows. A lace medallion trimmed the skirt and train accented with two rows of lace forming scallop-

ed edges at the hemline and bottom of the train. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a Morning Glory crown featuring heart - shaped pearls. She carried red roses on a white Bible, the Bible being a gift from her grandmother Bechtel. Attendants Miss Cheryl Nusbaum served as maid of honor with Miss Debbie Towne, Miss Sue Anglemyer and Miss Pam Waugaman. cousin of the bride, acting as bridesmaids. Their gowns were of olive green velvet and chiffon over taffeta featuring empire bodices of velvet, semi-scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves with sheath skirts of chiffon. Each wore a mock coat of sheer chiffon with satin bands accenting the waistlines and satin bows trimming the shoulders. Their headpieces were of a single olive green velvet rose and their flowers were yellow pompons. Miss Rita Griffith, niece of the bridegroom, acted as flower girl and Troy Allen Hill, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. Best man was Phil Shidler, cousin of the bride. Rex Billet, Clifford Wogoman, cousin of the bridegroom, and Alan Griffith, brother - in-law of the bridegroom, served as groomsmen. Seating the 150 guests were Ron Hill, brother-in-law of the bride, Raymond Bosse II and Gary Rookstool, cousins of the bridegroom. Bridal selections were played by Mrs. Virgil Louchs accompanied by Max Oesch, vocalist. . Selections were “With This Ring,, I Thee Wed”, “I Love You Truly” and “The Lord’s Prayer”. Reception in Parish Hall Mrs. Ron Hill, sister of the bride, was in charge of refreshments for the reception which followed in the church parish hall assisted by Miss Loretta Bechtel, Miss Ruth Bosse and Mrs. James Picklesimer.

The bride graduated from Concord high school and was employed by ILC Products Co., Elkhart, and the bridegroom attended Ligonier high school and is currently serving with the U.S. marine corps. The couple will reside at Camp LeJeune, N. C., where the bridegroom is currently stationed. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Alan Griffith and children of Fort Myers, Fla. i Larry Teghtmeyer Attends Annual Hardware Convention Larry Teghtmeyer of Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware of North Webster attended that firms 45th annual convention and exhibit, January 26 thru 29, 1969. Held in the Conrad Hilton hotel, the four day meeting was designed to enable, dealers such as Mr. Teghtmeyer to discuss mutual store problems and opportunities with each other, and with specialized merchandising personnel from the general office. New techniques and' procedures in merchandising, accounting, advertising, etc., were just a few of the many topics under discussion. Firemen’s Auxiliary Meets At Webster Mrs. Richard Mitchell presided at the meeting of the North Webster Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary at the fire station on February 3. The organization’s latest project “Car Splash” is underway. Proceeds will be used to pay for the new siren for the emergency truck. Plans are also being made for a rummage sale to be held in the spring. A social hour was held after the meeting with Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. John Bockman serving refreshments.
