For example, -Red Marlin, owner-operator of the Pickwick Lounge, said he put out a can and within an hour had $lO collected. As the Hunsberger story gets told, people are most generous in contributing. Leesburg’s premotors of the fund point out that every cent in the drive goes toward Mrs. Hunsberger's aid and relief.

This writer felt certain no one was watching as he fell flat on his face in a snow bank across from the huge Weatherhead plant a week ago. all happened when we climbed the steep embankment to get a photo of the front of the plant horn the vantage point of the B & O railroad. Coming back to the highway in the rain and snow was something else. Our indelicate feet (both of them at once) slipped and an ungracious fall resulted. As we regained our composure, looked around to be sure no one was locking, a hurried retreat to the comfort of our warm and dry car followed. Some time later Bob Searfoss, a Weatherhead employee, told us a group in the front office “saw it all”. They saw a side of the incident that escaped us. . Personable Mike Umbaugh of Barth, Inc., Milford manufacturer of one of the country’s finest travel trailers, recently received a telegram from television personality Dean Martin commenting on the travel trailer the firm built for onlocation use. Martin said he liked the trailer very much, and noted that it had “plenty of storage space for my bourbon.” He said it was like living in a hotel suite. something? No. we’re told, just a fad making the rounds in that community at the present time. Some of them leak real Sebastian Cabot-like. Lesson for today: Where did the word sideburns ccme from? Noticed at the Syracuse license branch: A pretty young thing assisting newly installed branch manager Bette Schlotterback. Her name: Sandra Conner (57C11) of Ligonier. Sandra is a Democrat, too, has been manager of the Ligonier license branch for the past eight years, and has been deposed since the change in administrations at Indianapolis. No hanky-pank here, although it might look like it. It’s only WOWO announcer Jack Underwood talking to referee Gene Kitson prior to opening gun of WOWO-faculty benefit game at the new Wawasee high school gym last Wednesday night. Good news: The game netted $1,200 for the Wawasee Booster fund. * * * This note from reader Mrs. William T. (Jean) Jones, Jr.: “Since your report of the Wa-wasee-Bremen game failed completely to mention the terrific halfcourt shot that Al (Red* Barrett connected at the very last second of the first half of play, we feel that some recognition should be given to Al. “This particular shot will go down in Wawasee basketball history and will be talked about when basketball cronies gather together for years to come. Personally, I will always be glad I was in the stands that night!” Wuthrichs Sell Building; Leave For Arizona Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wuthrich have sold the building which formerly housed the Milford Electric shop and left Saturday for Arizona.
