Mrs. George Thompson Mrs. George (Jennie) Thompson, 84, of Goshen, died at 11 p.m. Saturday in the Goshen hospital where she had been a patient one day. Mrs. Thompson was bom at Waterford October 25, 1884, and married Mr. Thompson in 19C6. He preceded her in death in 1954. She was an employe of Chose Bag Company and retired in 1956. She was a member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Turner, Philadelphia; two brothers, John Stahl, Syracuse, and Theodore Stahl, Goshen; and three nieces and three nephews. Services were held at Goshen on Tuesday. Rev. J. A. Morris officiated and burial was in the Violett cemetery. Roy E. Smith Roy E. Smith, 63, brother of Mrs. Dan (Lois) Musser of Milford, died in his home Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. His death re-

suited from complications following an illness of nine months. Mr. Smith, a lifetime resident of the Ligonier area, was bora to Charles and Sarah (Sparrow) Smith on August 30, 1905. He married Luella Parcell, who survives, at Nappanee in 1929. Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II and he was a former employee of Penn Controls at Goshen. Surviving with the widow and alcove mentioned sister, are one son; two daughters; 12 grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday with Rev. William R. Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Sparta cemetery at Kimmell. Mrs. Pearl Miller Mrs. Pearl Miller, 69, Niles, Mich., mother of Dr. Thomas A. Miller of Milford, died last Thursday night in Pawating hospital. The deceased was bora April 9, 1899, in Quinette county, Ga„
and lived in that southern state until 1943 when she moved to Niles. On December 28, 1922, she was married to Thomas I. Miller who preceded her in death in 1953. She was a member of the Shakespeare club and the First Baotist church of Niles. Surviving are three other sons. Roy W. and Herbert L., both of Niles, and Rev. Henry A. of Aurora. Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Fred E. Young of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday in the First Baptist church at Niles. Rev. Raymond C. Cunningham, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery. Mrs. Clarence Bowler Mrs. Clarence (Avis) Bowler, 56, r 1 Milford, died in the home of her son, George Bowler, Milfcrd, at 5 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Bowler had been ill one year prior tc her death. A resident of the Milford community for the past 36 years, Mrs. Bowler was born to Mr. and Mrs. Noah Reichard on January 10, 1912, in Portland. She married Mr. Bowler, who preceded her in death in April, 1953, in 1932. She was an employee of Penn Controls, Inc., Goshen. Surviving with the above mentioned son are six brothers, Dale
Reichard, Larwill, Milo Reichard, Tippecanoe, Dwight Reichard, Mentone, Harley Reichird, Plymouth, Paul Reichard, South Bend. ar.d Wilson Reichard, Logansport. Services were held Monday at the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. of which she was a member. P'v. Ralph Wagoner, pastor, officiated and interment was in the Milford cemetery. Mrs. Albert (Eva V.) Parsons Mrs. Albert (Eva V.) Parsons, 83, of 1421 east Sheridan street, mother of Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Wagner, Leesburg, died of complications in Murphy Medical Center Saturday at 5:45 a.m. She had been in poor health for several years. Mrs. Parsons was born at Syracuse to Frank and Mary Jane (Morris) Eagles January 5, 1885. She was married to Mr. Parsons at Albion November 6, 1912. He survives. She had resided in the Warsaw area for the past 12 years and was a member of the TroyPresbyterian church. Surviving are her husband and daughter; one son, Hugh R. Parsons of Warsaw; and two grandchildren. Services were conducted Tuesday in a Warsaw funeral home and burial was in the Oakwood cemetery. Guy Clifford Hickman Guy Clifford Hickman, 73, 2003 Pineapple avenue, Eau Gallic, Fla., step-father of Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Ray of Milford, and former Elkhart resident, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday at Brevard hospital in Melborne, Fla. Mr. Hickman was born in Noble county on August 27, 1895, and moved to Florida four years ago. On December 24, 1919, he was united in marriage to Ruth Haney, who preceded him in death on February 3, 1943. On November 5, 1947, he married Anna Bechtel, who survives. Private funeral services were at Emmerling-Paddack Chapel, 6020 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22. A well known community and civic leader, Hathaway joined NIPSCo as a cadet engineer in 1928 after earning his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue university. Surviving with the wife and step-daughter are two daughters, Mrs. Betty Latunas, San Antonio. Tex., and Mrs. Norman McClain, Melbourne Beach, Fla.; two step - daughters, Mrs. Harry (Marguerite) Miller, New Buffalo, Mich., and Mrs. Laurel (Evelyn) Rink, Syracuse; three stepsons, Earl Bechtel, South Bend, Paul Bechtel, Elkhart, and Lowell Bechtel, Orlando, Fla.; 24 grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren. Masonic services are to be held at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) for the deceased brother of the Leesburg Masoni\ lodge. There will also be visitation from three to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and until the hour of the service Friday. Mr. Larsen, 60 years of age, died Sunday morning, Nov. 24, of complications following an illness of several years. Death came to him at Glendale. He was born at Bethesda, Md„ on November 1, 1908, to Ingvar and Loma (Weaver) Larsen. He resided in North Webster for 36 years, moving from there three years ago to Glendale. He was married in June of 1932 at Youngstown, Ohio. He was a retired former owner of the Indian Hills golf course and had been a salesman and business man most of his life. He was a member of the North Webster Methodist church. Survivors in addition to his widow, Ouida, are two daughters, Mrs. Dillis (Linda) Ward of Glendale, Ariz., and Mrs. Tom (Terri) Reiff of North Webster; and four grandchildren. Wilbur D. Rule Wilbur D. Rule, 66, of r 4 Warsaw, step-brother of Roscoe Rule of Leesburg died in the . Murphy Medical Center at 5:10 a.m. Thursday of a heart ailment. Mr. Rule had been in ill health three years prior to his death. He was bom to Franklin L. and Dora (Suter) Rule at Bourbon on February 4, 1902. A Warsaw resident for the past 48 years, Mr. Rule was employed by the Leesburg Lumber Company. He was united in marriage to Jessie Long, who survives, on December 24, 1920. Surviving with the wife and step-brother are two daughters; five grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; two step - brothers and three step-sisters. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at a Warsaw funeral home with Rev. Arden Reed officiating. Burial was in the Etna Green cemetery. VanCurens Celebrate 55th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Tracy VanCuren of the Barbee lakes area observed their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday. No special celebration was planned due to Mr. VanCuren’s health. The VanCurens were married 55 years ago November 23 in the parsonage of the North Webster Methodist church. The ceremony * was performed by Rev. W. T. Dailey, pastor of the church, now deceased. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Mary) Stiner of Wolf Lake. Mr. VanCuren is a retired farmer. Mrs. VanCuren is now and has been a correspondent for The Pierceton Press for 18 years. Every dog has his day.
