RAT FERVERDA GUEST SPEAKER ON SUNDAY Winston Mazakis of Berwit, Lebanon, a converted Arab, will be guest speaker at the New Salem Church of the Brethren on Sunday, Nov. 17, for both forenoon and evening services. An invitation has been given to anyone who cares to attend. Mr. Mazakis is now living in Warsaw in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Ward. —NS—SUNDAY’S SERVICE “The Christian and His Liberty” was the message topic of pastor Michael Ostrander on Sunday forenoon at New Salem church. The scripture reading was taken frem I Corinthians, chapter 6. A visitor attending services was Oscar Plank, who was spending the week end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Plank, Jay and Debra of r 2 Leesburg. -NSSUNDAY SERVICES During the hour of worship on Sunday forenoon, special music was presented by the primary children’s chorus. They presented two numbers under the direction of Mrs. Robert Hurd with Cynthia Rapp accompanying. Visitors attending services on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Montel and daughter of North Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Devapriyam Kurat, who are students at Grace Seminary, Winona Lake, formerly of Hydenbad, India; and James Kurat of r r Warsaw, formerly of India. -NSSUNDAY SPEAKER The Rev. Winston Mazakis of Warsaw, formerly of Beruit, Lebanon, a converted Arab, was guest speaker at both forenoon and evening services. During the forenoon he gave an account of his conversion to the Protestant faith. During the evening slides were shown of places in Lebanon and he gave a missionary challenge. Mrs. Edith Huber of Goshen is spending a few days in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Weybright on r 1 New Paris. Mrs. Edna Tom and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse of r 1 were guests at dinner on Tuesday of Mrs. Vida Losey at Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ferverda entertained at dinner on Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wildman, Kent, Brent, Wenda Sue, and Rodney of Warsaw, Doug McKrill of Atwood, Miss Clara Driver of Warsaw, and Mrs. Blake Baumgartner and son Jonathan of r 4 Syracuse. The dinner was in honor of the birthday of Kent. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Wildman spent several days recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doyne Wildman and family of south of Richmond. CHILDREN VISIT MOTHER Mrs. Carl Hearld of Columbia City spent Monday and today <Wednesday) with her mother, Mrs. Anna Homan, at Milford. She will also spend Friday with her. Mrs. Homer VanOrsdall of Albion was with her mother Tuesday and will be tomorrow. Two other daughters, Mrs. Maxine Wagner of Elkhart and Mrs. Grace Rowe of Goshen, also assist in her care. Two sons, Ernest Wenger of Goshen and Everett Wenger of Oswego, visit her weekly. Mrs. Homan is improved from illness.

Mrs. Ben Valentine Entertains Charm N Chatter Club Mrs. Ben Valentine entertained the Charm N Chatter home ec club at her home on Monday night, Nov. 4. The co - hostess was Mrs. Bill Metcalf. Mrs. Lorin Babskey led the pledges and the song “America the Beautiful”. Mrs. James McNabb received the song of the month “Prayer of Thanksgiving” and the club sang together. Meditations were given by Mrs Robert Ritchie. She read three poems: “Four Years Old”, “Leisure”, and “For All the Gifts”. Mrs. Eva Brunner had the health and safety lesson. She said one should be aware of the public services offered to maintain good health—cancer tests as a group, tuberculosis X-rays and others. In place of the regular lesson, each one brought something for Christmas decorations. As the roll call was read they showed their decorations. Centerpieces, door hangings, mantel and table arrangements were some of the ideas brought and shared. Mrs. Valentine served heavenly hash, crackers, tea and coffee to 17

members. The annual Christmas party will be December 2. —NW— Home Ec Achievement At Shrine Building Wednesday Night Home economic members from all over the county filled the Shrine building Wednesday night, Nov. 6, for the achievement program. Mrs. Dale Pritchett of Danville gave a style show with two basic dresses and 20 fashions from a hat box. Scarfs, fringe, fur, tunics, and capes were taken from the hat box to change the appearance of the dresses. A scholarship was awarded to Miss Pat Himes, a senior at Purdue university. Among the prize winners were Mrs. Fred Kuhn, Mrs. Preston Gregory, Mrs. Gilbert Baumle and Mrs. Norman Swihart. —NW— Church Os God Ladies Make Cookies For Nursing Homes Missionary ladies of the Church of God made cookies Tuesday at the church to be giv-

Mr. Larsen has been in poor condition for two weeks from a heart attack. He is in a hospital at Glendale, near Phoenix. BIRTHS POPENFOOSE, Scott Allen Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Popenfoose of r 3 Syracuse are the parents of a son, Scott Allen, born at 6 a.m. Monday in the Goshen hospital. Scott Allen weighed in at seven pounds, 14 ounces. He has a five-year-old brother, Terry Allen. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Popenfoose of r 2 Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones of North Fort Myers, Fla. GRINDLE, Kevin A. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Grindle of Syracuse became parents of a son, Kevin A., born Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 10:20 p.m. in the Goshen hospital, weighing seven pounds, 13 ounces at birth. • The Grindles also have a son, Steve, four years old. Monticello senior and student body president. Miss Bushong is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Avon Bushong, Box 623, Syracuse. She belongs to Chi Omega and Student Center Governing Board Supplies Committee. Miss Bushong is a junior majoring in home economics. Ball State Students — MUNCIE — Three Ball State university students are student teaching in Kosciusko county during the autumn quarter. They are Judith Smith, box 213, Leesburg, at Syracuse elementary school; Pamela Day, box 128, Akron, at Warsaw Freshman high school; and Marilyn Clark, 517 west Eagle, Warsaw, at Warsaw junior high school. According to Dr. Graham Pogue, director of student teaching, 427 Ball State seniors are located in 252 schools around the state this term. As many as 1,800 are expected to student teach during the 1968-69 school year.
