LIGONIER NEWS By Rose Cunningham Reduce Ligonier Budget 13< Mayor John Golden reported at the city council meeting this week that the city budget for 1969 had been reduced by 13 cents. Last year’s figure was $2.04, with $1.91 for next year, due to a cut of one cent in the motor vehicle fund and 12 cents in the general fund. He was of the opinion that the city services will not suffer to any extent as a result of the reduction. The meeting was attended by managers from the Kroger and Danner stores, who had recently protested on blocking of the alley behind the location of the American State Bank construction. Their trucks delivering merchandise have been having difficulty unloading. The entire group and representatives from the store and the bank adjourned to the construction site to discuss the matter. After an inspection the council decided to barracade the northeast end of the parking lot and post “no parking” signs. Cars disregarding this waring will be towed away. Maurice Cass, building inspector, submitted recommendations on the O’Brien property on north Cavin street, the Don Berger property, 903 south Martin street, and the Margaret Haney property at 297 College street. The recommendation was that these buildings should be brought up to standard or condemnation proceedings would be considered. The council voted to take these necessary steps.
