Wedding Vows Spoken At Calvary Baptist Church Oct. 6
The Oswego Calvary Baptist church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Ann Kay Tusing and George Edward Teeple on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6, at two o’clock. Rev. Carl Shearer, pastor of the Milford Christian church, read the double ring rite. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Tusing of r r Leesburg are parents of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. John Teeple, also of r r Leesburg, are parents of the bridegroom. Baskets of white mums decorated the church. Miss Gene Deatsman, soloist, and Mrs. Mildred Savage, organist, provided nuptial music. Bride in Satin and Lace The bride given in marriage by her father wore a satin and lace white wedding gown. The gown had a lace yoke and the train was also of lace. Her veil was shoulder length and she carried an arrangement of blue and white daisy pompons. Serving as maid of honor was Miss Chris Heiman of Warsaw. She were a royal blue floor length gown featuring an empire waist. She wore a crown of pearls and carried white daisy pompons. Miss Sally Goon and Mrs. Kay Tusing, both of Leesburg, were bridesmaids. They wore gowns identical to those of the maid of honor and their flowers were the same also. Art Exhibit At Shrine Building November 3-9 The Lakeland Art Association will present its fall art exhibit in the Shrine building at the Kosciusko county fairgrounds at Warsaw November 3 to 9. Members of the Art association will be allowed to exhibit as many works of art as they wish at no cost. Non - members may exhibit up to five entries. The purpose of this fall exhibit is to give the public a chance to purchase works of art for themselves or gifts at low prices. To cover exhibit expenses the association will charge 10 per cent on al] sales made. Entries will be accepted Friday, Nov. 1, from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All works of art are to have been executed after November 1, 1963. A popular vote by the public will determine first, second and third place ’winners of the exhibit. Prizes will be donated by local merchants. The vote tally will be made at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Everyone attending the exhibit will be eligible for the door prize which will be one of the works of art on display. The drawing will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. You need not be present to win. , Any questions concerning the exhibit will be answered by contacting president Mrs. Kay Dipert at 453-3645. Mrs. Rosbrough Hosts Literary Club Mrs. Hosea Rosbrough was hostess to 14 members and one guest of the Literary club at her home recently. Roll call was answered by their various departments. Mrs. Ruth Sutton gave the devotions and rMs. Joe Irvin the program on hobbies and collecting. She told of the different things that were collected and told of one person who had 400 pencils. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess. Eastern Star In Regular Meeting At a regular meeting of chapter 2?7 Order of Eastern Star Tuesday night, two new members were voted on for membership with inniation set for November 20. Wednesday night practice will be held at Leesburg at 7:30 for Milford and Nappanee chapters. Inspection will be November 8 with dinner being served by the United Methodist church. A discussion was given on how well the Christmas cards were selling. Raffle tickets are being sold on three wall placques and a scale of justice. Tickets may be purchased from any member. Refreshments of ham sandwiches,' potato chips and lime jello salad were served in the dining hall.

The mother of the bride chose a three piece gold color suit with black accessories for the wedding of her daughter. The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue crepe dress. Each wore a corsage of white carnations. Reception Follows A reception was held in the church social room with Miss Pam Teeple, Mrs. Karen McKibben, and Mrs. Bob Teeple serving. The guest book was held by Miss Sara Teeple, and Miss Luanne Mock of Syracuse and Miss Cora Sue Grubb of Elkhart were in charge of the gifts. Mr. Teeple is engaged in farming and Mrs. Teeple is employed at Dytronics in Leesburg. Mrs. Teeple is a graduate of the Warsaw Community school and Mr. Teeple was graduated from Leesburg high school. Eight Square Club Meets Mrs. Ellis Wildman, assisted by Mrs. Roy Hizer, were hostesses to members of the Eight Square club. Mrs. Hizer gave the devotions and the lesson on special diets 'was given by Mrs. Dan Mohler. Mrs. Rex Sausaman gave the garden hints and health and safety remarks on cancer reports by Mrs. George Armbruster. Roll call was answered by telling a spooky story. Mrs. John Buhrt led the group in singing “Down in the Valley”. A discussion was held on achievement night which is to be held November 6. An auction was conducted by Mrs. Fred Kuhn. Refreshments in keeping with Halloween were served. Attends Tea At Governor’s Mansion Mrs. Kenneth Hartman and Mrs. Robert Allen, accompanied by Mrs. Phil Braddock of Elwood, attended a tea at the governor’s mansion Tuesday. The tea was given by Mrs. Roger Branigin and the central Indiana cystic fibrois chapter. A style show was given during the afternoon. Meeting Os Tri-Arts Club Monday evening members of the Tri-Arts club met at the home of Mrs. Donald Boggs with Mrs. Carl Andres as co-hostess. Mrs. Lewis Noel was in charge of the program. She secured Mrs. Robert Overstedt of Milford who showed her button collection. Roll call was answered by exchanging a magazine or a paper hack book. Devotions were given by Mrs. Walter Deatsman. Refreshments of salad, crackers and coffee were served to 10 members present. Halloween Party At Frederickson Home Mrs. Art Frederickson was hostess Monday night to the Three Arts club at a Halloween party. Mrs. Paul Schwinnen won the prize for being the best dressed. She was dressed as a member of a motorcycle gang. A scavanger hunt was held in a dark garage for 10 members and three guests, Mrs. Woodie Howard, Miss Lane Graham and Miss Lisa Graham. Mrs. Schwinnen won the mystery prize. Roll call was answered by giving your husbands favorite recipe. Mrs. Robert Long gave a report on Christmas projects. All repeated the Lord’s Prayer for devotions. Refreshments of cider and donuts were served. COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Martha Bozier of New Haven is spending some time with Mrs. Anna Bishop. Mrs. Ethel Huffer of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Roger McConnell were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hill in Warsaw. Slides were shown during the evening. Mrs. Anna Bishop has received word of the birth of a greatgranddaughter. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Monteith of Fort Wayne are the parents of a daughter, Rhonda Sue, who weighed seven pounds, four ounces at birth. Mrs. Monteith was the former Jane Mock. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Popenfoose and sons of Fort Wayne and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Blue and family spent Saturday afternoon with the Walter Hunters. Rev. Zielinski of Erie, Pa., was guest speaker at both the morning and evening services at the Oswego Calvary Baptist church. He and Mrs. Zielinski were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Popenfoose. They were met at Baer Field by Walter Hunter and returned there by Walter and Charles Hunter. Jim Adair of Wheaton, 111., spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Blue and family. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kammerer attended the anniversary ner of the Lady Shrines Monday* evening. The husbands were guests. Mrs. Herbert Timmons was hostess Friday night to a demonstration party. A large crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Immel were called to Seville, Ohio, Friday by the death of Mrs. Ernest Beery, mother of Mrs. Immel. Esta Yocum and Mrs. Jo Yocum visited Mrs. Norman Hunsberger at Cleveland Sunday. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Esta Yocum, who had spent the past two weeks there. Steve Weirick is spending a five-day pass at his home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weirick. Mrs. Bernice Watkins was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beebe in Pierceton. Mr. and Mrs. John Teeple spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Teeple. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Buskirk, Sr., are spending a month in Hollywood, Fla. Mrs. Darrell Johnson and family were Monday night supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Metge.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce May spent last week in Kentucky. Dean Boggs of Fort Wayne spent the week end at his home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boggs. Mr. and Mrs. Myrtus Custer of Sidney spent Monday with Mrs. Lillian Custer. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Blankenship entertained Wednesday night in honor of the birthday of Ronald Helman. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. James Earl and daughter of Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blankenship and family and Mrs. Jean Helman and Tony. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Irvine and Mr. and Mrs. James Earl attended the Christian Men’s .’Business supper at the Westminster Hotel Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blankenship and family moved over the week end to Herscher Addition in Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Metge spent Sunday in Rochester. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Allen of Fenville, Mich., over the week end were the Robert Allen family. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bair were recent guests of his roster and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Day of St. Paul, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bair of Ypslanti, Mich.,., were also guests. After visiting other relatives there Mrs. Day accompanied the Clyde Bairs home and spent the past week visiting them. She returned home Monday night. .
Name Election Boards In Van Buren Twp. Election boards for. next Tuesday’s general election have been named by the six precinct committeemen and women in Van Buren township. Precinct one, voting at Brooks’ Flower Shop in the Brittsan building on Main street, will work under a board appointed by Republican Harold Young and Democrat Dan Levernier. Republicans serving are as follows: Mrs. Herbert Baumgartn’r, inspector; Mrs. Arthur Wise judge; Mrs. Carl Speicher, clerk; and Mrs. Carlton Beer, sheriff. Democrats serving will be Mrs. Clayton Hollar, judge; Mrs. Robert Rassi, clerk; and Mrs. Paul Kizer, sheriff. Voters living in the second precinct will cast their ballots in the Bray building located on the corner of Main and Emeline streets. Mrs. Norman Lovell is serving the Republicans as precinct committeewoman and Darrell Orn is serving the Democrats. Mrs. Lovell replaced Ed Cain who passed away recently. The Republicans have appointed Royce Fuller, inspector; Mrs. M. A. Markley and Mrs. Arlo Beiswanger, clerks; Mrs. Charles Schell, judge; and Doral McFarren, sheriff. The Democrats have appointed Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile, judge; Mrs. Otto Wiggs and Mrs. Darrell Orn, clerks; and Mr. Orn, sheriff. The fire station will be voting headquarters for the third precinct with John B. Augsburger and Wayne Bucher, Republican and Democrat committeemen respectively, appointing the workers. Augsburger has named Mrs. Ed Jonasch as judge; Mrs. Don Brumbaugh and Mrs. Farrell Cain as clerks; John Davidsen as sheriff; and Mrs. Don Davidsen as inspector. Mr. Bucher has named Mrs. Lawrence Sawyer as judge; Mrs. Bill Little and Mrs. Carl Hoover as clerks; and himself as sheriff. Senior Mothers Hear Program By Miss Juday The Senior Mothers club of Syracuse met Monday night at the Grace Lutheran church. Miss Marta Juday presented the program, showing slides and telling of her experiences in Hawaii, where she spent almost a year. —— The hostess, Mrs. Theodore Hertenstein, assisted by Mrs. Dolphus Sheline served refreshments to the 14 members and guest, Miss Juday. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Bertha Whitmer at Cromwell. Primary Mothers Discuss Christmas Bazaar The Primary Mothers club of Syracuse met October 21 in the home of Mrs. Frederick Graff for a Halloween party. After a brief business meeting, at which plans for the annual Christmas bazaar were discussed, games were played. Refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Gay Webb. There were 13 members present. Mrs. Charles Davies won the door prize. The next meeting will be a program given by Matchless at Nappanee. Members will meet at the home of Mrs. Roger Fetters by 7:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Benderfer of Center, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Darr of Goshen called at the John Darr home at Syracuse on Sunday. Mrs. John Darr had been a patient in the Goshen hospital and was recently released to her home.

Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club Attends District Meeting The Syracuse - Wawasee Garden club was well represented at the annual district meeting of the North Central district of Indiana Garden Club Incorporated at the Honeywell Memorial building in Wabash on October 22. Mrs. Hubert Oswalt, district president, presided and a talk •was given by Mrs. Ray Thorn, state president. The morning session was spent with a coffee hour, viewing displays and hearing reports by acting chairmen and presidents. A beautiful luncheon was served in the Crystal Room to 126 voting delegates and members. At the afternoon session there was a program on Japanese flower arranging and the home life of Mrs. Toneya Hazelbaker of Japan. Delegates were elected for the state convention in the spring. Those attending were Mrs. W. H. Brake, Mrs. Ralph Clingaman, Mrs. R. C. Tytler, Mrs. Gale Chapman and Mrs. William Brammer. K. E. Wagners Visiting Here; Overseas Soon Sgt. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Wagner of Lawton, Okla., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ridings, r 2 Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Wagner, Nappanee. Sgt. Wagner will return to Lawton November 10 to report for overseas duty. His wife Judy will remain with her parents, the Ridings, and later attend the Fort Wayne Institute of Art. Syracuse Brethren Church Holds Halloween Party The annual elementary department Halloween party, sponsored by the Ladies Aid of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren, was held Friday night in the church basement. There were 32 children present in various costumes. Mrs. Clarence Metzger decorated the church with orange and black streamers, skeletons, witches and black cats. Mrs. Joe Baumgartner, Mrs. Darell Bowman and Mrs. Charles Vanderveer were in charge of the entertainment. Refreshments of cider and doughnuts were served by Mrs. Owen Avery and daughter, Sharon. Door prizes were awarded to Marsha Blackport, Byron Stouder, Doreen Darr, Nina Gilbert and Charles Avery. Several parents and Miss Sharon Gilbert, superintendent of the elementary department, were also in attendance.

Saint Andrew's Women Sign Charter The women of Saint Andrew’s Unit;d Methodist church of Syracuse met October 17 to celebrate the signing of the charter for the Women’s Society of Christian Service. A luncheon was served by the women of Trinity circle with Mrs. Vern Brinkman acting as hostess. The program was under the direction of vice president Mrs. Ralph Clingaman. Those assisting her were Mrs. Dean Pittman, president; Mrs. William T. Jones, Jr., chairman of spiritual growth; Mrs. Clare Knepple, past conference president; Mrs. Max Workman, president of Calvary Women’s Society; Mrs. Peter Blue, Mrs. M. K. Meredith, Mrs. Jack Clark, Mrs. George Kenyon, Mrs. John Naab, Mrs. Jesse Hann and Mrs. Gareth Meek. At the close of the celebration Rev. August Lundquist acted as host as the group took part in the Agape Feast. Bethel Women’s Fellowship Meets October 17 The Bethel Women’s Fellowship met October 17 for its monthly meeting. Mrs. Delbert Moneyheffer, president, opened the business meeting. She appointed committees for several months. A thank you note was read to the ladies for helping with the cooking and sewing classes for the Spanish ladies during the past summer. Mrs. Raymond Hoover led the group in singing, “This Is My Father’s World” and “In Christ There Is No East or West”. Mrs. Hoover gave devotions by saying a few words and reading Psalm 139. Mrs. Oliver Replogle gave the program for the evening. She. showed slides and gave a very interesting talk on the trip she and her husband took to Germany this past summer. There were 32 ladies present. Mrs. Mace Hollar of Milford and her grandsons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. James Gawthrop, Jama and Jennifer of Benton, and Dr. and Mrs. Charles Hollar and Dana of Warsaw, enjoyed dinner last Wednesday at Fqo'and Faye’s near Syracuse. Foll6wing the-meal they went to the Gawthrop home for the remainder of the evening.

CAR-TRUCK ACCIDENT SATURDAY No one was injured as a car and truck collided at the intersection of old state road 15 and county road 1350 N near Milford on Saturday at 2:14 p.m. LaMar D. Stutzman of r 2 Milford was traveling north on the old state road and attempted to turn west on the county road. He glanced at a train on the nearby track and struck a car being driven by Charles E. Clawson of r 3 Syracuse. Clawson was going east on the county road and was attempting to turn south onto the old state road. Investigating officer Don Drake set $175 damage to Clawson’s 1968 Ford and $75 to the left side of the bed and rear bumper of Stutzman’s 1960 International truck. Towns Receive Vehicle Fund Distributions Lakeland area towns received money recently in motor vehicle highway fund distributions which were sent by the state of Indiana for the% month of September. The monies are obtained from motor fuel tax, motor vehicle licenses and carrier fees as well as drivers’ court fees. Os this 53 per cent goes to state highway funds, 32 per cent to county funds and 15 to cities and towns. Kosciusko county received $59. 482.42 for the month while the Lakeland towns received the following: Milford $701.78, North Webster $297.07 and Syracuse $959.16.

STALEY SORRELL Fall Crusade Underway At Wawasee Heights ‘ The Wawasee Heights Baptist church announces its fall “Spiritual Life Crusade” which begins on Monday, Nov. 4, running through Sunday, Nov. 10. Services are at 7:30 each evening.. The church has engaged Rev. Staley Sorrell, Warren, Mich., as the evangelist. Pastor Sorrell was converted at the age of seven and called to preach at the age of 12. At his ficst service 1,200 people were present to hear “the preacher” with 27 responding to make decisions for Christ. Pastor Sorrell graduated from Bob Jones university and became pastor of the Van Dyke Baptist church at Warren, Mich., which he still serves. In addition to his preaching ministry, Pastor Sorrell will be playing the piano and a set of 35 Piccolo Cowbells. Pastor Robert A. Mundy and members of the Wawasee Heights Baptist church extend a cordial invitation to the public to all services. The church is located opposite the Wawasee high school. Miss Kerfin Honored At Bridal Shower Mrs. Everardo Ganz, Syracuse, entertained at a bridal shower recently for her sister, Miss Dianne Kerf in, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Kerfin of Syracuse. Game winners were Miss Vickie Firestone and Mrs. Charles Me Kibben. The refreshments served featured a cake decorated with the colors of the bridesmaids’ dresses. There were 20 guests present, including persons from Syracuse, Goshen, and Bristol.
