THE WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN The day little Jimmie admired my muscles I was the strongest man in the whole world. Then a humiliating retreat seemed preferable to a bloody nose. - Life hasn’t changed much since I’ve grown up. Sometimes on Sunday lam /// \ so confident of my human might that I glibly pass up the spiritual resources // / WOHMIODE \ my neighbors are finding in church. And by Monday I’m wondering where to II I \ turn for help in some insurmountable difficulty. ill Experience is forever teaching me that my own self-confidence is mostly self- \\ \ SUNDAY J delusion. The men I admire seem absolutely honest about their own limitations, \V\. / and absolutely certain about God’s strength. One Sunday as I sat in a pew and watched others receiving Communion this thought struck me: Among those who kneel reverently before an altar today is [ undoubtedly the world’s strongest man. . The Bible's Answer: SALVATION BY FAITH IN CHRIST Romans 4:5 But to him that worketlr not, but believeth on Him that justified the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. I John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God cvercometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. THOUGHT: True faith is not believing that God can; it is knowing that He will. CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN Evangelistic meetings will be held October 6-13 at the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. Rev. Oliver Dearing of Decatur will be the evangelist. ‘Unreality’ Is Sunday Subject “Unreality” is the subject of the Bible lesson - sermon in Christian Science churches this week. The Golden text, from the Gospel of John, is “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” Among related passages to be read from the denominational textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, is the following: “Human thoughts have their degrees of comparison. Some thoughts are better than others. A belief in Truth is better than a belief in error, but no mortal testimony is founded on the divine rock. Mortal testimony can be shaken. Until belief becomes faith, and faith becomes spiritual understanding, human thought has little relation to the actual or divine.” l , Wawakeechie Extension Homemakers Club In September 25 Meeting Mrs. Glee Gunter and Mrs. Fred Banta were hostesses at the September 25 meeting of the Wawakeechie Extension Homemakers club held in the Turkey Creek Conservation club house.
