60th Wedding Anniversary Observed Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Samud Hartter of r 1 Milford were guests of honor at a dinner held at a Syracuse restaurant Sunday in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. James Randall, Eric, Huntter, and Shanna, Mrs. Maxine Robinson and Joan, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Randall. Coffee and anniversary cake were served in the afternoon at the Hartter home. Leesburg United. Methodist Church Presents Worship Service “Kicking the Marriage Habit” was the topic for the worship service presented by the Leesburg Methodist church at the Worship in the Round Sunday morning. Appropriate music was furnished by the chancel choir directed by Robert Bishop. A good crowd was in attendance. August Meeting Os Ruth Missionary Circle The Ruth missionary circle of the Oswego Baptist church met Thursday afternoon at the church with Mrs. Esther Lloyd reading from the Secret Place for devotions. Mrs. George Armbruster presented the program on “Turning the World Upside Down”. A discussion period followed. PARENTS OF SON Mr. and Mrs. Ed Blue are the parents of a son born August 24 at the Goshen hospital. The new arrival weighed seven pounds, two cunces. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hunter of r 1 are maternal grandparents, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Blue of r 1 are paternal grandparents. Mrs. Anna Hartman is the maternal great-grandmother. 'Table Settings Topic For Program At Club Meeting Mrs. Russell Harmon, assisted by Mrs. Ruth Knepper, was hostess to members of the Eight Square club on Tuesday evening. Members answered roll call by telling where they went on their vacation. Health and safety hints cn car inspection were given by Mrs. George Armbruster, and gardening hints by Mrs. Rex Sausaman. Mrs. Betty Hettier presented the lesson on “Table Settings”. “In the Good Old Summertime”, the song of the month, was reviewed by Mrs. Melvin Gunter and sung by the group. An auction was held with Mrs. Fred Stockey in charge. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. Lonnie Irvine, who is serving in the Marines, is in the hospital at Camp Pendleton, Calif., with an infected foot. Surgery was to have been performed on the foot last Wednesday. THE HUGH McCANNS ENTERTAIN FOR BIRTHDAYS Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McCann entertained Thursday evening for Mrs. Forrest Croop of Warsaw and Mrs. Raymond Hartman in honcr of their birthdays. Homemade ice cream and cake were served to the guests of honor and to Mrs. Bess Croop and Forrest Croop, Linda and Nancy of Warsaw, Miss Ethel Anglin, Columbia City, Mrs. Larry Hartman, Sherri and Kerri, and Raymond Hartman, Kim and Randy. Annual Farmers’ Union Picnic Members from Kosciusko, Whitley and Elkhart counties of the Farmers’ Union held their annual picnic at the Conservation Club house at Silver Lake Sunday. This is comprised of the second district. A basket dinner was enjoyed at the noon hour. John Raber of Bristol, who was the first president, Alvah Troyer, Lafountaine, the second president, and Harold Wright, the third, and present president, were in attendance and gave short talks. Lawrence Dorrell, legislature director, was the principal speaker. The Wayne Butt family of Peru, consisting of the mother, father, daughter and son, provided the entertainment. It consisted of a chalk talk, speciality acts, comedy, but mostly of music. Tap dance numbers were given by Marla Laffert and Rhonda Runnells of Mentone. Whitley county had the most members present, but all were well represented. COMMUNITY NEW& Mr. and Mrs. Emery Drake and Monte of Orlando, Fla., visited the Robert Teeple family on Sunday and Thursday evenings. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen spent Friday at Fenville, Mich., with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Allen. Max returned home with them and Kip remained for a visit. Captain William Lyons is enjoying a short leave at his home, arriving Saturday night. He will soon leave for a tour in Viet Nam. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Richey had dinner Sunday evening at a Syracuse restaurant in honor of both their birthdays which occur in August. Rev. David Willett and Mr. and Mrs. Esta Yocum visited Mrs. Norman Hunsberger of Milford at the Cleveland Clinic Saturday. Mr. Hunsberger returned home with them. The Jefferson Stookey reunion will be held on Labor Day at Middlebury. Mrs. Glen Deeter and Mrs. Amanda Stackhouse visited Tuesday with Mrs. Iva Etter, who is at the home of her sister in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Popenfoose and family are moving to Fort Wayne as soon as they are able to obtain a house. Mr. Popenfoose is being transferred from Saint Clairsville, Ohio. They are former residents of the Oswego area. Kerry Boggs and Charles Lyons attended the state fair at Indiana apolis Sunday.
