Receive Felkner Estate Bequests
A distribution of funds from the estate of the late George Felkner of Milford was made last Thursday by the trust department of the F*irst National Bank of Warsaw, with Milford branch manager Robert J. Hurd making local distribution. The estate totaled approximately $140,000. The funds were distributed as bequests according to the last will and testament of Mr. Felkner, who had been a long time Milford elevator and service cstation operator. ’ Town Gets slj,ooo The town of Milford received a check for $15,000 and it was received by Mrs. Herbert Baumgartner, town clerk - treasurer. It is specifically to be used by the town’s water department. The Milford public library received a check for SI,OOO received by Mrs. Charles Kerlin, librarian. The Milford Christian church received SI,OOO, accepted by Harry Good, and the Milford Methodist church received SI,OOO, accepted by Dennis Sharp, church treasurer. The Milford cemetery association received S3OO and the Felk- , ner cemetery association received S3OO. Other beneficiaries included E99BH BETROTHED — Mr. and Mrs. Arch Baumgartner of Milford announce the engagement of their daughter, Jane Elaine, to Michael Allen Yoder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Yoder of r 2 Edwardsburg, Mich. Miss Baumgartner, a graduate of Milford high school, attended Indiana university in Bloomington and is now employed by the Indiana Bank and Trust Company of ’ Fort Wayne. ' Her fiance is a graduate of Goshen high school and attended Ball State university. He is presently employed by Superior Tool and Dye Company of Elkhart. No date has been set for the wedding.

Milford Methodist Church Plans Vacation Church School
Vacation church school at the Milford Methodist church will be held June 3 to 7. There will be classes for children from age three through the present sixth grade. Methodist teaching materials will be used, and since these must be ordered in advance and cannot be returned, it will be necessary for children to enroll before May 1. Children who are not as yet enrolled may

Mrs. Evans Entertains Club Mrs. Marley Evans, Jr., entertained the Wednesday Afternoon club in her Lake Wawasee home on April 17. In the absence of the president, the incoming president Mrs. Ralph Thornburg presided and called the meeting to order in the regular form. In response to roll call the members gave short and timely spring poems. The secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave a treasurer’s report. The committee reports were given and committee chairman gave their reports. The next meeting, which is the club’s annual May party, was discussed and the time and place announced. History Given The meeting was turned over to program chairman Mrs. Vern Brinkman, who presented Mrs. Wales Macy as the afternoon speaker. Mrs. Macy’s subject was “Community’s Unforgetable Events”. She began with the establishing of a place called “Syracuse” by Henry Ward and Samuel Crosssn in 1834. In the midst of swamp and apparent wasteland, these two men perservered, building a mill, a dam and lodgings. Twelve years later the settlement had grown to 480 citizens. Mrs. Macy’s coverage of the town, up to the present time, included many happenings long forgotten. At the conclusion of her program, she held a roundtable continuing the same theme. The meeting closed with the Mizbah Benediction. The hostess served delicious refreshments and a social period

Milford Band Students Escape Injury Friday Members of the Milford high school band escaped injury Friday morning when the bus in which they were riding was involved in an accident only 15 minutes after it left the high school. Involved was a chartered bus driven by Elwood Kauffman, 46, r 1 Goshen, and a truck driven by Oliver Creekmore, 34, Leesburg. Both vehicles were southbound on state road 15 when Creekmore stopped to allow oncoming traffic to pass before making a turn into Plum street at the north edge of Leesburg. The bus was unable to stop and hit the back of the truck. The truck, owned by Leesburg Lumber, was damaged $25. Estimates have not been made on the chartered bus. Band members were transferred to a school bus and completed their tour. Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Bitzer of Oakwood Park, Lake Wawasee, had as their recent visitors their son and family, Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd F. Bitzer and four children of Madison, Wis.
Grace Bible Opens Revival Meetings Evangelistic meetings will be held in the Grace Bible church, 518 south Main street, Syracuse, at 7:30 p.m. each evening from April 29 to May 5. Guest speaker will be evangelist Joseph W. Arnett, who has been in the ministry 34 years — 11 years as an evangelist, 23 years as a pastor. Rev. Arnett has pastored churches in Kansas, Montana, Missouri, Oklahoma and lowa. He was reared, educated and ordained in a liberal denomination qpd withdrew from the ecumenical movement to take a Scriptural, separated stand for Christ. He is religious editor for the national picture news magazines, “True News”, has carried on an extensive radio ministry over numerous stations and was religious news commentator for KDMI-FM at Des Moines, lowa. He is also the author of numerous pamphlets, correspondence courses, Bible studies and books. If you want to hear the word of God ministered in clearness and power, attend these services. Everyone is welcome. Syracuse Local Mrs. Ida Hibschman, Syracuse, spent the evening of April 18 with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jensen and family at Garrett. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, Mrs. Hibschman, and Mrs. William Smith of Garrett spent Friday afternoon at Fort Wayne. Mrs. Hibschman returned home Friday evening.
