Some 158 arrivals and departures were recorded by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at its Syracuse passenger station during February, figures released by the railroad show. Four trains serve Syracuse-Wa-wasee and the surrounding area at the local passenger facility — the Capitol Limited westbound in the morning and eastbound in early evening, and a train at midafternoon each way. All of the trains serve points between and including Washington and Chicago, via Pittsburgh. The Capitol Limited service was
HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HOUSEHOLD WATER?
Don’t gamble on dirty water! Like MAGIC you can turn your presentwatersupply into CRYSTALCLEAR, crisp tasting “spring like” water. You will actually enjoy using your water for drinking, cooking, beverages, etc., knowing it is free from silt, sediment, rust, scale particles, sand, algae, dirt, cloudiness, and most othei* suspended matter. Aptly named, the Purity Water Filter is the most effective, dependable, lowest-cost protection against these water problems. (It does not soften water.)

inaugurated here at the end of 1967 after a number of local residents petitioned the B and O for additional passenger service. According to rail officials, it Is used by persons from throughout the area, since no city to the north of here has direct rail service to Washington and many other B and O cities to the east. Use of the new Capital Limited service here showed a slight increase from January to February, the railroad reports. In January, 14 parsons used the westbound Capitol at 6:47 a.m.; in February 18. In January, 12 persons used this train to Syracuse; in February, 15. Eastbound, the 7:19 p.m. Capital picked up 16 passengers here in January and 18 in February. And 26 persons used the east bound train to Syracuse in February, up from 24 in January. The railroad figures also show that 49 persons used B and O’s westbound train 7 at Syracuse, at 2:37 p.m.—3B departures and 11 arrivals. Least popular of the B and O trains locally was eastbound Train 10, at 1:39 p.m., with 11 departures and 21 arrivals. The B and O is one of the few remaining railroads in the east stressing passenger service, and it has continued to improve its service on the Capitol Limited. Lately it has added snack bar facilities in its strata dome coaches, in addition to maintaining complete dining and lounge service in other cars. Trains 7 and 10 also offer full Pullman, coach and meal-snack-beverage service. The railroad is also involved presently in improving the local passenger station. New gravel has been placed on the public parking lot there, and an asphalt covering which was placed on the brick train loading platform about 15 years ago, is being removed “to make the platform smoother and the whole place more attractive”, according to B and O agent D. W. Casey. The B and O also plans to renovate and paint the station building itself, it is reported. The waiting room is kept open and lighted around the dock because of the number of out of town people using the train service here. Mrs. Mary Huber of Waubee Lake fe visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Huber at Goshen.
