ENTERTAINS AT LUNCHEON THURSDAY Miss Kay Allen, assisted by Miss Ladora Yant, entertained at the Allen home Thursday at a luncheon for Miss Denise Bell, Roxanne Burke, Debbie Smoker and Kim Sullivan. Yellow and green the colors carried out in -the table decorations. Games were played with everyone receiving prizes. April Meeting Os Lydia Circle Mrs. Ellsworth Everest was hostess Wednesday night to members of the Lydia circle of WSCS. Devotions were given by Mrs. Robert Smoker. Mrs. John Buhrt gave the program. An election of officers was held as follows: Chairman — Mrs. Robert Allen Vice chairman — Mrs. Robert Smoker, re-elected Secretary — Mrs. Ellsworth Everest Treasurer ■?- Mrs. James Hearn f The next meeting will be a mother - daughter banquet May 10 to bp held in the church with the Lydia circle as hostess. The Susanna circle will be in charge of the table decorations and the program will be given by the Martha circle. Plans were discussed for the preparation of the evening meal which the WSCS is in charge to be Served at the district conference of the ministers and their wives and the laymen to be held May 14 at Leesburg.

EASTER DINNER HELD AT CLAYPOOL Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Hanson and Dean of Noblesville; Mr. and Mrs. Curt Shoemaker, Gregory and Brian, and Miss Susan Gross, all of Warsaw; Ed Bruce, Silver Lake; and Mrs. Ora Irvine were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce and family of Claypool. Leesburg Homemakers The Leesburg Homemakers club met Wednesday night with Mrs. Charles Smoker. Mrs. Hosea Rosbrough was co-hostess. Members answered roll call by telling the first thing they notice about a person. Meditations were given by Mrs. Bertha Frederickson. Mrs. Emra Stookey gave the health and safety remarks and gardening hints were given by Mrs. Max Anglin. Mrs. Hosea Rosbrough gave the history of “There’s Music in the Air”. A seed and bulb exchange was held. During the business meeting plans were made to attend the spring luncheon. Prizes were won by Mrs. Hugh McCann and Mrs. Chris Kammerer. The May meeting will be the club’s spring party. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kammerer enjoyed Easter dinner at a North Webster restaurant. In the evening they all had a luncheon at the Gene Kammerer home. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Croop of Warsaw, Mrs. Hugh McCann and Mrs. Raymond Hartman were guests. Mr. Croop showed pictures of Florida taken last winter. Eastern Star In Regular Meeting Chapter 287 Order of Eastern Star met Tuesday night for the first meeting of the new officers with all officers present The meeting opened in regular form. The affiliation of Mrs. Josephine Cox will be held May 14. A short Easter program by candelight was held with each officer giving a brief reading on the meaning of Easter. A memorial service was conducted for Mrs. Cleo Baker and Monroe Moore and the charter draped for 30 days. A moment of silent prayer followed. The worthy patron invited all to the dining hall where refreshments were served by Mrs. Carolyn Waikel and Mrs. Jean Gift. Mrs. Chris Kammerer was in charge of the decorations. At the next meeting Mother’s Day will be observed, Masons will be honored and a party will be held for the purpose of raising money. BIRTHDAY AND EASTER DINNER HELD AT BLANKENSHIP HOME Mr. and Mrs. Albert Blankenship entertained at an Easter and birthday dinner in honor of the fourth birthday of their granddaughter, Cynthia. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blankenship and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Earl and daughter, all of Warsaw, and Mrs. Jean Helman, Tony and Ronnie. Mr. and Mrs. John Hale of Warsaw were afternoon guests. Mary Magdalene Circle Meets At Church The Mary Magdalene missionary circle of the Oswego Baptist church met Wednesday night at the church. Mrs. Oscar Snyder was hostess and also gave the devotions. The lesson, “That They All May Be One”, was given by Mrs. Gene Tenney. SUNRISE BREAKFAST HELD AT WARSAW The Homebuilders class of the Brethren church met with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shull in Warsaw Easter morning for a sunrise breakfast. Marlin Rose gave a short devotional on the meaning of Easter. An egg hunt was held for the children. Following the breakfast all went to church for Easter services. There were 42 present. FAMILY EASTER DINNER Mrs. Maxine Robinson and Joan entertained at Easter dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hartter of Milford, Mrs. Nellie Randall of Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. James Randall, Eric, Hunter and Shanna, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Randall. An egg hunt was enjoyed by the children. Michael Roberts is home on leave after spending the past year in Viet Nam. At the end of his leave he will be stationed in Virginia.

Korean Pictures Shown At Tri Arts Meeting Mrs. Ruben Clover was in charge of the program at a meeting of the Tri Arts club Monday night. Mrs. Donald Boggs showed pictures of Korea taken while her son Kerry was stationed there. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Albert Kammerer with Mrs. Raymond Smith co-hostess. Mrs. Floyd Smith gave the devotions. Members answered roll call by telling why I’m glad for spring to come. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. The next meeting will be the night out party May 6. EASTER DINNER GUESTS An Easter dinner was served Saturday evening at the Herschel Albert home with 20 guests including Mr. and Mrs. Kent J. Adams, Kent J. H, Carol Ann and Greg, of White Land, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bair of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Albert, Troy, Todd, and Trent, of Valparaiso, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Charlton, Scott, Craig and Clark, and Mrs. Mabel Krouse of Leesburg. An egg hunt was enjoyed by the children. Literary Club Has Last Meeting Os Club Year The Literary club had its last meeting for the club year with a dinner Monday evening at a Syracuse restaurant. Favors were pens found with the nutcups. Tulips decorated the tables. A contest was held with Mrs. Dean Ferverda winning the prize. The door prize was won by Mrs. Ruth Deatsman. The new books for next year were passed. Club meetings will again start in .October. There were 19 present. COMMUNITY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Noel Rhinehart and Jack entertained recently at a birthday supper for Miss Nevada Lippincott of Warsaw. Other guests were Miss Marie Lippincott, Mrs. John Dye and Mrs. Mabel Lippincott. Mr. and Mrs. George VanCuren, Mr. and Mrs. Max Miller, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Allen, Steve, Beth and Max were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne ' Buffer and family of Clunette. The Wesley youth choir appeared in their new robes Sunday morning at the Methodist church. They joined the adult choir in the morning service.

Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Albert were Easter Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Charlton and family. — ■■ ■ I Easter Cantata Presented At Syracuse Sunday An Easter cantata was presented at the Sunrise service at the Wawasee Heights Baptist church, Syracuse, on Sunday morning by the young people of the church under the direction of Doctor and Mrs. Robert Schneider. The cantata is a master piece by John W. Peterson and is an arrangement describing the coming Messiah Jesus Christ, the institution of the Lord’s supper, His trial, His death and resurrection. It is called “Hallelujah, What A Savior”. RECEIVES PROMOTION Stephen J. Widup, who is employed at the L. S. Ayres Store in Fort Wayne, has been promoted to merchandising assistant of the Briar shop, varsity shop, men’s furnishings and boys’ department. He is from Milford. NORTH WEBSTER NEWS — Mrs. Harvey Boyer Hosts Miriam Circle Mrs. Harvey Boyer was hostess to the Miriam circle Tuesday night, April 2. The lesson was on “Finances” by Mrs. Charles Turner, Mrs. Robert Ritchie and Mrs. Robert Roose. A question and disucssion period followed. Film strips were shown on missions supported by the society. Devotions were by Mrs. Robert Ritchie. Dessert salad, mints, nuts, tea and coffee were served by Mrs. Boyer. —NWIMRS. LEWIS STRIEBY HAS SURGERY Mrs. Lewis Strieby underwent major surgery Sunday evening, April 7, in Whitley County hospital. She is reported in good condition and expects to be discharged soon. -NW—ROBERT ROOSE HAS SURGERY Robert Roose entered Whitley County hospital Monday, April 15, where he had major surgery Tuesday morning.

PLANS JUNE WEDDING — Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Hoerr of r 1 Milford announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Ann, to Richard Anthony Pelath, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kerwin of Michigan City. Miss Hoerr is a graduate of Milford high school and is a junior at Ball State university, majoring in speech and hearing. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. A graduate of Elston Senior high school, Michigan City, Mr. Pelath will graduate from Ball State university in June. He is a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha social fraternity. A June wedding is planned.
Paul Kizer Gives Postal Report To Lions Milford’s postmaster Paul Kizer, treasurer of the Milford Lions club, presented the program at Monday evening’s meeting on the postal department. He used a film to explain the U.S. mail system. Postmaster Kizer stated this is the 50th anniversary of air mail service for the post office. It was Jack Knight of Buchannan, Mich., who took the first mail by air. Kizer also stated that postmasters are being dorfte away with as small offices are becoming part of larger ones and superintendents are replacing the post masters. The film showed the importance of the ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) code. New officers were duly elected during the business meeting. Ed Sauer of the Warsaw Lions club and JLarry Conrad, district manager of scouting, were present to ask the club to sponsor a cub scout pack in Milford. They stated the sponsor’s number one responsibility was to provide good leadership and a meeting place for the cubs. This was approved. Box Cox of the Winona Lake club was present to tell the Milford Lions of a fish fry to be held on May 4. Wayne Sholty, Ted Martindale, Arlo Beiswanger, Jerry Bushong, Dick Hepler, Charles Myers, Gale Chapman and Glen Treesh volunteered to help the Lions already serving on the Craig Ruch fish fry project. That fish fry will be April 26. Young Adult Club Has Meeting The Elkhart County Young Adult dub met Thursday evening, April 11, at the Elkhart county extension office. Majorie Holdeman called the meeting to order with 12 members and six guests present. Jay Eisenhouer led the pledge to the flag, and Betty Hoopingarner gave devotions. The feature for the evening was a discussion on “Prelude to Marriage”, by Marjorie Holdeman. Recreation was in charge of Jay Eisenhouer, and refreshments were served. The next regular meeting will be a recreational meeting May 2, at the extension office. Gordon Jones of Purdue university will be in charge.
