Court News Syracuse Girl Receives Suspended Sentence Patsy Godfrey, 18, Syracuse,, received a suspended sentence to the Indiana Women’s Prison when she appeared before judge Gene B. Lee in Kosciusko circuit court Thursday on a forgery charge. The girl had earlier entered a plea of guilty to the forgery charge and pleaded not guilty to a charge of uttering a forged check. Sentencing followed a precommitment investigation by probation officer Wallace J. Manrow. Her attorney, Steve Heran of Syracuse, asked the court for leniency due to the fact that she had no prior criminal record and restitution had been made on the forged checks. Judge Lee warned the girl that she would have to strictly abide by her terms of probation or the suspended sentence would be revoked and a jail term imposed. She was placed on probation for one year. The young woman was arrested on March 1 by state police detective Herschel Harper and deputy sheriff Fred Carlin.
