The 80 participants were from the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, and the fair was under the direction of teachers Lawrence Pletcher and Richard Fehnel. In the top photo is grand champion winner Amy. Purdum with her demonstration of the growth of grass in three different types of soil. She is'a fifth grader and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Purdum. In the bottom photo are first place winners, from left, Kevin Tom and Ralph McCoy, sixth graders; Ellen Hoover and Amy Purdum, fifth graders; Ann Kaiser, Melinda Tom and Peggy Timmons, fourth graders. Kneeling from left are Frank Nyikos, fifth grade, and Lee Beer, sixth grade.
Bloodmobile To Be At Webster and Pierceton
Ned Titus, Kosciusko County American Red Cross chapter chairman, announced today plans for the March 26 visit of the Red Cross Bloodmobile unit to Kosciusko county. The bloodmobile unit will be in operation at two locations, thus giving donors an opportunity to help meet the blood needs of this county which at the present time 75 per cent of the obligation has been met. The unit will be located at the Pierceton American Legion home from 12 to 6 and at the Methodist church in North Webster from 1 to 5 p.m. on March 26. Make your plans now to donate on that day. No doctor can transfuse a promise—Give! ! The life you save may be your own.

MISS BLANCHE SENSIBAUGH, MILFORD, RECEIVES CALLERS Those calling on Miss Blanche Sensibaugh at her apartment in Milford Saturday were her niece, Mrs. Esther Peffley of Goshen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Arnold, Mrs. Hubert Cain and Mrs. C. R. Shuder of Milford. The callers came to wish Miss Sensibaugh a happy birthday. She received a bouquet of red carnations, gifts, and cards. Mrs. Ruby Zimmerman is living in with her. 20 Years Agio, March 18, 1948 Milford is to have another new business added to its growing list of enterprises, according to an announcement made this week by Don Cecil of Dewart Lake. The new business will be known as the Cecil Food Processing Co.

COMPLETES BASIC — Airman Jerry L. Wagoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burr J. Wagoner of North Webster, has completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex. He has been assigned to the air force technical training center at Lowry AFB, Colo., for specialized schooling as an aircraft weapons systems specialist. Airman Wagoner, a 1965 graduate of Clinton Prairie high school, Frankfort, attended International college, Fort Wayne.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Zimmerman announced the engagement of their daughter, Mabie, to Herbert W. Riedel, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Riedel of Goshen. The 79th birthday anniversary of Frank Merrick was celebrated at a six o’clock dinner March 10, in the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Phillips, of near Warsaw. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Merrick, Milford,' Mr. and Mrs. Zane Cammon and sons, Benjamin Wenton and Russell James of Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne BUcher entertained their bridge club at their home on Saturday evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Conn, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Anglin, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Fisher. Mrs. Leo Anglin and Willard Conn were awarded prizes for high score and Leo Anglin for low. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Fisher and children were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Kinney. The birthdays of Mr. and Mrs. Fisher were celebrated. Mr. and Mrs. Ren Clark and family moved on Sunday from their apartment in the business block in Milford to the Pinkerton house, also on Main street. Mr. and Mrs. James Stuckman, accompanied by Miss Elizabeth Stuckman of Chicage, who had been visiting them, went to Chicago Sunday where they visited the national flower and garden show. A birthday party for Janet Case was given at the Methodist parsonage Tuesday afternoon after school. Janet is eight years old. 30 Years ago, March 17, 1938 Russell Ruch suffered a fractured left leg Wednesday of last week when he fell while flying a kite. The break was in the large bone near the ankle and he was given treatment at the McDonald hospital. Mr. and Mrs. John Method have rented the Walker property on North Main street, which they will occupy when vacated by George Ralston and family. Mrs. Orvil Orn has been removed to her home here from the McDonald hospital at Warsaw where she received treatment for several days last week. Albert Henry Bird, who became ill Tuesday, was taken to the Elkhart hospital that evening where an emergency operation for appendicitis was performed at 11:30 p.m. He is reported as satisfactory.

The Wide Awake class of the Milford Christian church met with Hilda and Delbert Dippon Tuesday evening. After a business session conducted by Harry Traster, Hilda Dippon led a devotional on prayer. The 23 members and guests enjoyed a recreational period directed by Elizabeth Orn. The hostess with her mother, Mrs. Jesse Dippon, • served refreshments. Miss Marybelle Lentz, who will become the bride of Burris Sharp, entertained at an announcement party Thursday evening at the home of her mother, Mrs. Emily Lentz of North Main street. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fisher were Sunday dinner guests of the Lloyd Dewart family. 40 Years ago, March 15, 1928 Ivan B. Kline, local barber, has tossed his hat in the county political ring as a candidate seeking the Republican nomination for state representative. Smile and the world smiles with you. Mr. and Mrs. George Graff, Misses Mary, Edna and Tillie Graff and Miss Esther Getz of Goshen attended the regional basketball tournament at Fort Wayne, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Teeple entertained at dinner Sunday, Mrs. *L. W. Teeple of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Powell of Leesburg. The occasion was Mr. Powell’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bates of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Felkner attended the show at the Lerner theater in Elkhart Sunday. Milford high school will present “Peck’s Bad Boy” in the community building March 21. Proceeds to be applied on the purchase of a new Holograph machine. wedding anniversary. 50 Years ago, March 14, 1918 Miss Edith Stout and Roßs A. Timmons of Milford were married at 2:30 on Friday afternoon at Warsaw. The young people will reside near Milford. The tenth annual musicale of the Milford high school chorus will be Friday at 8 p.m. in th? high school auditorium with Miss Maude McLaughlin, director. Twenty-five ladies who are neighbors and friends of Mrs. E. E. Stockberger gave a surprise party at her home on Tuesday in honor of her birthday. At noon a fine dinner was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Paul Darkwood was in Milford a short time Tuesday afternoon and brought with her a large picture of camp Shelby at Hattiesburg, Miss. The picture was sent to her by her son, Albert, who is now in that camp. John Auer and family and Paul Buhrt and family had dinner with Charles Schultz and family. Mr. and Mrs. William Wyland and Eldon had Sunday dinner ■with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watkins. The members of Milford high school are busy building a service flag for the boys who have gone to the army. Clark Gibson, who owns a farm west of the Salem church, moved his family to Elkhart last week and Rial Troup moved on the Gibson farm. Mrs. Arch Defrees and son are spending a few days with Lewis Neibert near Oswego. Glen Smith, Roscoe Coy and Guy Bowser spent Sunday afternoon with Gerald Grove. series poi trays the entire life of the Lord in 12 episodes of 50 minutes. Each Wednesday evening two qf the episodes are shown. This Wednesday’s study will be of the boyhood of the Lord, where we see him eager to learn about all the customs and ceremonies of the Jewish faith as he prepares to t make his Bar Mitzvah at the age of 12 in the Temple. The years pass and the filmstudy portrays for us the political unrest, the rise of John, the Baptist, the baptism of Jesus and His temptations in the wilderness and finally the beginning of his ministry. The entire community is invited to share in this film study series on Wednesday nights. Subsequent studies will be “The Challenge of Faith” and Discipleship on March 20. The return to Nazareth and Conflict March 27. Fate of John, the Baptist and Retreat and Decision April 3. The final study will be on Good Friday evening under the titles, Triumph, Defeat Crucifixion and Resurrection.
