TO ADDRESS TEACHERS — Dr. Sam M. Lambert, who was inaugurated October 20 as executive secretary of the National Education Association, will address executive board members of the Indiana Classroom Teachers Association on Saturday in the Marott Hotel at 1:45 p.m., following a noon luncheon. This is Lambert's first trip to Indiana as NEA executive secretary, although he spoke here in 1963. Lakeland Men Graduate From Basic Training SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Marine private Bill W. Shear, son of Mr, and Mrs. Francfe Shear of r 1 North Webster and marine private Timothy G. Cpnnofly, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Byron Connolly of Syracuse were graduated from eight weeks of recruit training at the marine corps recruit depot here. They will undergo from two to four weeks of individual combat training and then, after leave at home, will report to their first marine corps assignments. The intensified marine recruit training emphasizes rigid physical conditioning and survival techniques, both at Sea and ashore, to develop self-confidence and endurance. Marksmanship with the M-14 rifle and 45-caliber pistol are equally stressed, and close order chill instills the traditions of marine corps teamwork. A thorough study of basic military subjects, hygiene, first aid and sanitation, and the customs, courtesies, history and mission of the marine corps serve to polish the new marine’s recruit education and prepare him to join the marine combat forces. 1 Pythian Club Re-Elects Officers Mrs. Estella Swartz and Mrs. Zerola Zook were hostesses for the November meeting of the Syracuse Pythian club Thursday in the Swartz home. During the business session the 1967 officers were reelected. They are: President — Mrs. Herbert Blue Secretary-treasurer — Mrs. Artie Long The 12 ladies faced the snow and slick roads to attend the pot luck dinner and meeting. There will be no meeting in December. The January meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener with Mrs. Catherine Babcock as the hostess. Following the business meeting games were played. Mrs. Ella Unrue won high prize and Mrs. Herbert Blue, low prize. Mrs. Blue also won the door prize.
