Christmas - Think Twice
The old cliche is “Look twice before leaping.” The one you should be using during the coming few weeks should be, “Think Twice About Your Christmas Gift Shopping.” The simple answer is “SHOP Al HOME!” NUMBER I—THINK about WHERE you can find the best selection of gifts and values in the shortest time with the least effort. THINK about the fact that your hometown stores offer a wide, wonderful arrav of gifts for everyone at prices no higher (often less) than elsewhere. Lower overhead costs than in larger cities help keep prices down. Ask yourself why you should travel far and wide (spending money for gas and auto expenses) for gifts, when your best buys are right here at home.
December....
The month of December brings fun. parties and thrills of the holiday season which will end the current year and usher in a new one. December brings Santa and his sleigh of goodies for the kiddies; it brings cakes, cookies and pies from grandma’s oven; Merry Christmas salutations from strangers and an ever increasing wish for peace on earth, good will toward all men. This coming Sunday is the first day of Universal Bible Week and is observed to give sjx'cial consideration to the Bible s place in the life of the community. It is sponsored by the American Bible Society. It would lie a good time for an early new year’s resolution — to read the Bible
$459 Million Dollars...
Yes, out-of-state tourists spent $459 million in 1966 in Indiana according to an announcement made recently by Lieutenant Governor Robert L. Rock. Their expenditures accounted for SIS million in state revenue—that’s big business! This represents a nine per cent increase in out-of-state tourist expenditures over 1965 according to an economic analysis compiled by Dr. Lewis C. Copeland of the University of Tennessee. Out-of-state traveler purchases accounted for 27 per cent of all receipts of businesses serving travelers, the report indicates, and $147 million in Indiana personal income. According to Dr. Copeland’s studies, the travel industry in Indiana is not growing at the same rate as the national travel industry. It was two years ago that the

NUMBER 2—THINK about WHERE your gift money goes AFTER you spend it. Money spent out-of-town is all gone forever as far as this community is concerned. On the other hand, much of the money you spend at HOME stays at home, where it stimulates local employment and progress, helps pay taxes and provide the contributions that maintain better schools, streets, parks, churches and other facilities that make this a BETTER community for you and your family. SHOP AT HOME where you have adequate parking, great variety, better values, famous brands — shopping with c nfidence and friendly service from people w hom you know.
