Observe Visiting Matrons And Patrons Night Chapt r 237 Order of Eastern Star observed visiting matrons and patrons night at a called meeting Tuesday night at the Masonic hall. Christine Oberly, associate grand matron, and Betty Myers, district deputy, were escorted to the east and Mrs. Morris Huffman sang a song to each one to the tune of "Home on the Range". Each was presented a tiny hottster and gun on an elastic band to be worn on her arm. Inside the holster was a gift of money. Each past matron and past patron was presented with a western handkerchief to be worn around his or her neck. Each one stood and introduced himself. Mrs. Oberly and Mrs. Myers addressed the chapter and gave brief talks. Decorations carried out the western theme. Cow horns, wagon wheels and pictures of horses, cows and cowboys were used in the chapter room. Following the meeting Doug Kehler, a pantomine artist. entertained the group. The dining hall had red and white tablecloths on the tables and several oil lamps furnfehed the light. The refreshment committee wore western blouses and skirts and cowboy hats. Mrs. Dale Morehouse served as chairman and was assisted by the other members. Devotions were given by Debbie Smoker. Will's Alte, county 4-H leader, and leaders, Mrs. Charles Smoker and Richard Vanator, presented the award pins to the 4-H members. For the program Steve RoSbrough showed slides on Korea. Farm Bureau State Convention At Indianapolis The Farm Bureau state convention w ill be held at the Murat Temple in Indianapolis November 1214. By Gloria Rapp The Rekamemoh club took their annual trip again this year. On October 20 at the early hour of 6:30 we started for Indianapolis. Upon arrival, we visited StokelyVan Camp’s and then walked across ' the street to Patricia Steven’s Fin- ' ishing school. ; We had a very nice 'lunch at ■ Block’s tea room. In the afternoon our first stop ' was Porter’s Business college ■ where we saw Barbara Davis and Dana Musser (former MHS students'. Our most interesting stop was at Winonah Memorial hospital where we were able to tour through the new intensive care ward. After shopping at Glendale we started home. Syracuse FFA Elects Officers By Johnny Coy Hie Syracuse FFA chapter held a meeting on November 2 for the primary purpose of electing officers for the 1967-68 school year. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. with Mr. Edwards, our advisor. preskiing. Those elected for 1967-68 were as follows: President — Bill Green Vice president — Roger Miller Secretary — Roger Kuhn Treasurer — Don Johnson Sentinel — Wally Felts Reporter — Johnny Coy It was decided by the members present to participate in the seed sales project again this year. The top salesman in this project is to receive $5 from the chapter treasury. Steve Tatman and Gary Rice were voted into membership in the chapter and properly initiated as greenhands. Meeting adjourned by majority vote. JANE FRICKE IN SINGING HOOSIERS Miss Jane Fricke, a sophomore at Indiana university, is a member of the “Singing Hoosiers", a choral group of about 100 pieces made up of I.U. students. They sang at the university auditorium Saturday evening before two homecoming audiences, and they made appearances throughout the state. Jane is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Fricke of r 2 South Whitley, and a niece to Mrs. Robert Leifer of North Manchester, forI merly of Pierceton. FALL CONCERT WAS EXCELLENT Th? fall concert, our last, was conducted very well. JANET PLANK —-SILS— Janet Kay Plank is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plank of 113 W. Washington street Syracuse. She is another of ths busy seniors in that school. Janet will graduate in the spring with majors in English and history and minors in business and science. English and shorthand are her favorite subjects. She is a member of the chorus. che?rbloek, GAA, art club, senior class play and annual staff. She is also on the bowling league. i She has an older sister, Mrs. Richard L. Coy. 20, of Jacksonville. Fla., and a younger brother, Larry, who is in the seventh grade. Friday night the seniors put on the last senior play to be held in dear old SHS, providing that Wawasee high school construction remains on schedule. The seniors, under the direction of Terry Iden and Student diection of Nancy Koher, put on the very funny play, “The Sluck Pott”. The kids worked diligently toward making the play a success and afterwards presented Mr. Iden with a gift of appreci- ’ a’ion. Tom Turner had the misfortune of having the first chemistry mishap of the year. Rumor had it that Tom and the chemistry room blew up! Actually a flask of copp/r sulfate boiled over and some got on Tom’s pants, that’s al!! We juniors have a very busy year ahead of us. The junior-senior prom is our responsibility and as a starter, we’re having a sock-hop in the old gym after the bon-fire on Friday night. We are having a live band and hope to have a lot of kids there!
