Phillip E. Moore Enters Army Phillip G. Moore, enlisted on Sep- ■ tember 25 in the United States Army for a period of three years at Indianapolis. according to the local army recruiter SFC Robert D. Hanson. Phillip chose to enlist for the pay disbursing specialist school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, one of over 100 service schools available to a high school graduate under the Army’s unique "Choose-lt-Yourself" training programs. Phillip will receive his initial processing and basic training at Fort ' Campbell, Ky. Fort Wayne, has been decorated with the air medal and the air force commendation medal at Pope AFB. N. C-, for action in i Southeast Asia. Major Fioritto, a flying safety ofI fleer, received the air medal for meritorious achievement during aerial flight. He was cited for his outstanding airmanship and courage on suc- ; cessful and important missionsjmder j extremely hazardous conditions. He now holds two air medals. His second award of the commendation medal was for his outstanding professional skill and initiative while assigned at Ching Chuan Kang AB, Taiwan. The major is now at Pope with the '■ tactical air command which providles combat reconnaissance, aerial ■ firepower and assault airlift for U. S. army forces. Donald Hiner Promoted Recently Donald Steven Hiner of r 1 North Webster was promoted to third class petty officer in the United States Navy, according to word received by his wife recently. TCPO Hiner is serving aboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga. His wife and child are residing at the present time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald N. Hiner of r 1 North Webster. Edward Leamon Promoted In Viet Nam VIET NAM—Edward L. Leamon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max E. Leamon. r 1 Syracuse, was promoted to specialist four September 18 in Viet Nam, where he is assigned to the 9th infantry division. Spec. Leamon, a A wireman in company C of the division’s 9th signal battalion, entered the army in May 1966 and completed basic training at Ft. Dix, N. J. His wife, Sharon, lives at 513 north Huntington, Syracuse.

When support of infantry units the engineers detect and clear mine fields, destroy caves, tunnels and other enemy fortifications. Hie unit is also engaged in a civic action program designed to assist the Viet Namese people in completing self-help projects, such as the building of wells culverts, small bridges and schools. Equipment and materials for the projects are made available through the marine corps reserve civic action fund. Marines in Viet Nam provide the know-how and guide the Viet Namese people in carrying out these projects. Pvt. Steven A. Rapp Completes Three Weeks Training U.S. ARMY. GERMANY —Army private first class Steven A. Rapp, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Rapp, 743 E. Center, Warsaw, completed his operational readiness test September 17 following three weeks of training at the training area near Grafenwohr, Germany. The tests are designed to evaluate his knowledge in combat readiness and operations. Upon completion cf the training and testing period, he returned to his home station near Munich, Germany.
