Hapner w r as released from the Goshen hospital Tuesday. FIVE YEARS AGO The Syracuse fire department sponsored a family picnic last Sunday with nearly 100 per cent attendance. The Syracuse-Waw’asee Garden club held a guest meeting Tuesday evening in the home of Miss Irene Abts. Lake Wawasee. A magnolia tree on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pennick near Kale Island decided to put on its spring dress and began to bloom again. | Clarence W. Kehr, 83. died Tuesday in the Hutchison nursing home. He is sun ived by one daughter, one son. two sisters and seven grandchildren. Cliffcrd Byrd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Artie Byrd, has been released from the South Bend Memorial hospital and is now at home. Arnold, superintendent of the Lakeland Community School Corporation. x Mr. Arnold told of the plans of the new Wawasee high school, showing pictures of the completed school, the floor plan and first and second floors. He told of the new educational system that ; will be a- { vailable in the new school and that an adult education program would be worked out in a year or so. A discussion period followed. Mrs. Deloss Smith, president, conducted a short business meeting. A new member Mrs. Calvin Johnson was welcomed. The hostess served refreshments at the close of the meeting to 17 members and one guest, Mrs. Josephine Robinson.
