Syracuse Jackets Win Sectional Crown Saturday
The Syracuse Yellow Jackets under coach Eldon Ummel hammered the New Paris hurlers to win the first Indiana High School Athletic .Association sectional baseball tournament. Play was held at Nappanee last week. Syracuse defeated New Paris 6-2 in the championship game to win the title. They advanced to the title game by defeating Nappanee 7-2 in the semi-finals Saturday morning. » In the championship game Syracuse was led by Rob Clevenger who pitched a four hitter and pounded a triple and single. The Jackets rallied in the second inning, scoring four runs. Steve Wagner walked and Bob Pilcher doubled him home. Rob Smith and Tom Thornburg singled and John Thornburg singled and John Wortinger was safe vm a fielders choice driving in Pilcher. Cieveng-

Wedding Vows Exchanged Sunday By Ginger Pippenger And Stanley Price
Wedding vows were exchanged on Sunday, June 4. at three o'clock in the First Brethren church in Nappanee by Miss Ginger Lee Pippenger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Pippenger of 652 south Main street. Nappanee, and Stanley Price, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Price. 3r.. of r 1 Milford. Three hundred guests were invited to the double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Vernon Shaw, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church. Baskets of white mums, blue carnations and white snaps, potted palms and twin candelabra formed the church decorations. Nuptial music was provided by Miss Diana Exans and Mrs. George Reed. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, wore a gown of imported Chantilly lace oxer nylon net and taffeta fashioned with a molded bodice, scalloped square neckline and short sleeves. The bouffant shirt ended in a court tram with a deep flounce. Her elbow length veil was caught to pearl petals coming down on her forehead. Her bridal bouquet was of white roses and blue and white carnations. Bride's Attendants Attending the bride were Miss Mardele Hochstetler of Nappanee, maid of honor, and Miss Susan Price, Milfont sister of the bridegroom as bridesmaid. Upon their return from Florida, the newlyweds will reside at Milford. The bride was graduated from Nappanee high school on May 23. She is employed at Mencro at Nappanee. Mr. Price is employed at the C. S. Myers Ford garage in Milford.

Unit 226 Holds Election Os Officers Tuesday At the regular business meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary 226 of Milford, nominations for the coming year were read and an election was held. New officers are as follow’s: President—Mrs. Robert Davis First vice—Mrs. Wade Mishler Second vice—Mrs. Robert Rassi Secretary—Mrs. William Leemon Treasurer—Mrs. Harry Haab Historian—Mrs. Herbert Felkner Chaplain—Mrs. Marvin Rapp Sgt.-at-arms—Mrs. Dean Baker Executive board—Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile. Mrs. Hattie Becker and Mrs. Worth Jackson. Outgoing president Mrs. Berkeypile presided and the song of the month, ‘ Battle Hymn of the Republic ’, was tng by the members. The community service chairman, Mrs. Oliver Replogle, was instructed to present the nursing home with a 50 star flag from the Ancil Geiger unit. The president read three letters from the different department chairmen. namely—Knightstown Home. Marion VA hospital and the Lafayette Soldiers ami Sailors home. The unit chose to contribute toward the Lafavette Home to help furnish a room. The cost of refurnishing one room in the home is S4OO. Due to the meeting night coming on the Fourth of July, the next meeting date was changed to July 5. The hymn of the month. “Fairest Lord Jesus"’, was sung by the unit. Historian Mrs. Harry Haab read the highlights of the year. Last year Mrs. Haab’s history won first place in the second district. Following the dosing of the meeting. Mrs Herbert Felkner sang. “Little Old Lady”, in honor of the Gold Star Mothers present. Mrs. Robert Rassi was hostess for the occasion with 28 members and one guest. Miss Penny Robbins, present. Jack Stump Home From Viet Nam Jack Stump, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McClintic of Milford returned borne last Friday after serving with the U. S. navy in Nha Be, Viet Nam. Jack will report back about July 1 and is to be stationed in Pearl Harbor. Hawaii.

Minn., where her condition is listed as serious. Mr. and Mrs. Pad Levernrr returned Monday from Rochester and report Mrs. Levemier is somewhat improved but still in a serious condition. She was taken by air ambulance to Rochester last Wednesday. Paul Levemier has stated that one member of the family 'plans to be with her during the next two or three weeks that she will remain at St. Mary’s. Mrs. Leona Stalter, North Webster, was reteased from the Whitley County hospital Tuesday, May 30. Mrs. Earl Shepherd, r 1 North Webster. was treated in the emergency room of the Murphy Medical Center Friday and released. 73 Seniors Graduate From Syracuse Friday Evening
A near record graduating class of 73 seniors switched their mortar board tassels Friday night at the Syracuse gym to become the next to the last class to graduate from Syracuse high school. Eighty Graduated Last Year The ritual, soleum and real for the uniformly clad scholars — boys in crimson and girls in white — was performed before a gym full of faculty, parents and friends. The sea of flash bulbs going off during the processional and < recessional during the presentation of diplomas was a reflection of parental pride.
