The Jr. Merry Maidens 4-H Chib Meets By Barban Zimmerman The Junior Merry Maidens 4-H club held a mother and daughter tea on Wednesday evening, May 10, at the Milford fire station. Mrs. Robert Kitson, 4-H leader, welcomed the mothers at the start of the program. Lori Steffen gave some peoms about “Mothers” and Becky Replogle gave a reading on “These Modem Mothers”. Sue Speicher, Peggy Beer, Darcy Wolferman, Becky Zimmerman, Kay Sorenson, and Janet Beer sang songs for the evening program. Then to top off the evening program Cynthia Rapp gave a demonstration on how to make a peach supreme pie. After the entertainment, refreshments of punch, coffee, and cookies were served by Brenda Davis, chairman; Cynthia Rapp. Doris Rogers, Pat Buhurt, Teresa Emmons, Alice Gunden, Lori Steffen. Kathy Price, Marla Hoover and Jane Mathews. Each table had flower arrangements. The refreshment table was set with green and white carnations for the center piece and also with the 4-H color paper plates and cups. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Clifford Wolf and Miss Cynthia Rapp. Roll call was taken and each girl gave her mother a carnation.

The meeting was adjourned at 9.15 pjn. The next meeting will be on June 7 after school in the Milford fire station. All 4-H record books are due at the next meeting.

Relief Corps Holds Memorial Services Thirteen members of the Women’s Relief Corps at Syracuse took part in the memorial services on Sunday. May 21, at the Syracuse Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Robert A. Scheidiy officiating the ceremony. After the church services the group met at the home of Mrs. Frank Bates where they launched their boat of flowers on Syracuse lake in memory of the unknown dead buried at sea. Mrs. Emery Guy, chaphn, dismissed the ceremony with prayer. The corps then went to the Syracuse cemetery to place their Relief Crops emblem on the grave of Mrs. Clarence ilda> Snyder, a deceased member of the organization;

ENTERTAINS FOR BIRTHDAY DINNER Mrs. Paul LeCount of Syracuse entertained Sunday at a birthday dinner in honor of Mrs. Dale Coy of Nappanee. Others attending were Mr. Coy and family, Nappanee; Mr. and Mrs. Robert LeCount and son, Bobby, Elkhart; and Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Weaver and daughter, Jill, Syracuse. MILFORD LOCAL Dr. H. Philip Snyder and wife Christel of Santa Barbara. Calif., visited last week with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Snyder, at Milford/ They also visited his sister and family at Indianapolis and attended the state dental meeting and the speedway qualification trials while there.
