Two Area People in Accident . Miss Helene L. Lentz, 43, of Milford,' and Clarence A. Miller of r 3.’ Syracuse. were involved in a three- > car, chain-reaction accident Monday evening on Elkhart county road 20 south of Elkhart. Mildred Mae Peyton, 22. of Go-, shen, was traveling west on the Elkhart county road and had stopped : for traffic ahead when her car was rammed from behind by an auto op- i erated by Mr. Miller. Miller's ve- | hide was in turn rammed from behind by a car driven by Miss Lentz. Miss Peyton sustained a whiplash injurv as did her passenger. Mary E. Fisher, of Goshen No injuries were reported for Miss Lentz and Mr. Miller. According to investigating officers, [ state trooper David Petgen and Elkhart county sheriff John Downing, damage to all three cars was estimated at more than SSOO. 4 ; ’ T £ ii ? M ■ ’T 1 ‘ Clyde W. McDonald Clyde W. McDonald, 94, of Milford, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Goshen hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks. Death was due to complications. Mr. McDonald was born October 19, 1872, in Milford, the son of William and Annie Wright McDonald. He had lived all of his life in Milford. In 1902 he was married to Dollie Sroufe and she died in 1940. He married Grace Griffith in 1942 and she survives. Mr. McDonald was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Kosciusko lodge 418, F. and A. M.. for 74 years. Surviving in addition to the widow are two sons, Lee and Jack McDonald, of Goshen; one daughter, Mrs.

Accident William Hoover, 19. was driver of the truck in which his brother Harold was a passenger. According to investigating officers, Hoov- • er was enroute to Goshen in a car to get his 1967 licens? plate when t his car became stuck in snow along Elkhart countv road 21, a short dis-

tance from the railroad tracks west of the New Paris overpass. He returned heme to get the pickup truck and was northbound on Elkhart county road 21 when Hoover skidded on ice and hit the train. William Hoover suffered head lacerations and other injuries. He was reported in fair condition at the Goshen hospital Monday. Pearl W. Homan Death claimed Mrs. Pearl W. Homan, 83, Waubee Lake, at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Homan died of a coronary heart condition following two weeks’ illness. She was born in Milford September 16, 1883, to George W. and Elizabeth (Heist) Sharp. In 1901 she married John Wesley Homan who preceded her in death in 193-i She was a member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren. Surviving are two sons. Russell and Lawrence Homan, both of Milford: one grandson; and three greatgrandsons. One son and one brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Mishler funeral home with Rev. William Roop officiating. Burial will be in the Milford cemetery. Mrs. Clarence Snyder Mrs. Ida Olive Snyder, 81, died in her home at Syracuse Sunday, Feb. 26, at 4:30 p.m. She had been ill one year and bevMast for the past , two months. Mrs. Snyder was born in Elkhart j county on May 18, 1885, the daughter of John and Marjorie Wyland Neff. She was married to Clarence Snyder on May 14, 1908. Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Syracuse Methodist church, Syracuse Pythian Sisters, Pythian club, a charter member of Hex Grange Home Economic club. Women's Relief Corps and a 50-year member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She had lived at Syracuse most of her life. She is survived by her husband; one sister, Mrs. Truman (Lydia) Ball of Elkhart: and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Syracuse at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Ralph Wagoner officiated and burial was in the Syracuse cemetery. Cornelius B. Miller : Cornelius B. Miller, 80. of Goshen died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at the Orn nursing home in Milford where he was admitted February 20. Mr. Miller was born September 5. 1886, in Waterford, the son of William and Nancy (Blough l MilI ler. He married Elffie Miller on May 16. 1907. Surviving in addition to the widow are three sons, Charles of Ojai, Calif.. Harold and Hubert, both of Goshen: two ciaugliters, Mrs. William McCall of Goshen and Mrs. Richard West of Boulder, Colo.; 14 I grandchildren; and 15 great-grand-children; a daughter. Bernice, died in 1910. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. this afternoon ' Wednesday' in a Goshen funeral home. Rev. David J. Jamieson officiated and burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Miss Edith Baumgartner, Milford, was a slipper guest Sunday of Mr. and Mi's. Oscar Graff on r 1 Mil- ; ford. The Graffs spent the evening , with their daughter, Mrs. Ray Levy. ‘ and family at Warsaw.

Mrs. Dean Reports At Meeting s The Syracuse American Legion Auxiliary unit 223 met in the Legion hall Tuesday evening for its regular meeting. The president, Mrs. Tim Darr, presided. Mrs. Darr called the members’ attention to the new window and hall drapes that some of the members had made and installed recently. Mrs. Charles Dean reported on Americanism and told the members that the American flag should only be flown between sunrise and sunset and never in temperate weather. A request from the North Webster post for empty cigarette packs was discussed and all empty packs are to be taken to the hall. The North Webster post will get a wheelchair for a person in the community. Reports from the various committees were heard. A wreath will be ordered for Memorial Day and also 12 Poppy Day coin containers. Mrs. Darr reported she had received eight cemetery markers and the new memorial plaque., She will take the plaque to have names of two recent deceased members engraved on it. The Legion birthday party was discussed. It will be a carry-in supper, March 18, at 6 p.m. in the hall. Meat, bread, milk and coffee will be furnished by the auxiliary. Mrs. Darr read a letter from the American Legion commander asking that the window’ drapes and inside drapes be opened before leaving the hall so that the night policeman on dutv could check the inside of the haU. She also read a letter from the commander giving the Auxiliary members authority to clean and wax the club room floors once a month. The meeting closed with retiring of the colors and the closing prayer by the chaplain. Mrs. Georgia Buster won the door prize. Refreshments were served by the hostess committee for the evening, Mrs. John LeCount, Mrs. Charles Dean and Mrs. Agnes Stiffler. There were 18 members present.
