REMEMBER . . . WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO Considerable smoke damage was done to merchandise at Tom Socks Sportswear, located in Wawasee Village, resulting from a flash fire about 4 p.m. Friday. Ice fishermen driving on Lake Wawasee are being warned by conservation officer Earl Money that there is an open spot near the center of the lake with water depth of 60 to 65 feet deep and not to drive in that vicinity. Syracuse will travel to Larwill on Friday where the Jackets will meet the South Whinfey Bulldogs in what promises to be a real battle. Mrs. Myrtle Brady, south Huntington street, is in the Alfran nursing home, Warsaw. Harold L. Arnold, owner of Arnold's Grocery which was destroyed by fire last Thursday, said this week he has no definite plans for reopening the store. The store located on south Huntington street, had an estimated damage of $30,000 to the building and contents. FIVE YEARS AGO Barbara L. Zally is winner from Syracuse high school in the 1962 Betty Crockejr Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow. The offices of McCormick-Cutter on south Huntington street are being remodeled. Speculations are rising that Noble Blocker, well-known Syracuse Bank cashier, will be a candidate for auditor of Kosciusko county.
