Ashley-Dodds Wedding Held Recently In EUB Church
Calvary EUB church, Syracuse, was the recent scene of the wedding of Miss Nancy Elaine Ashley and Steven Craig Dodds. Captain and Mrs. Donn L. Ashley of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and Lt. Col., USA. tret. >, and Mrs. H. C. Dodds of North Webster, are parents of the couple. Bride and Attendants Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in an empire waist gown of white slipper satin with Alencon lace bell sleeves. A long mantilla of Alencon lace flowed over the detachable cathedral length train. She carried a bouquet of white roses and ivy. Attending the bride were Miss Suzanne Rasmussen of Hamden, Conn., maid of honor, and Miss Deborah Bolt of Boston, Miss., bridesmaid. Miss Sonya Sue Sprunger served as. flower girl. They wore floor length gowns of pink velvet and carried pink roses. Dave Nesbitt attended the bridegroom as best man. Also assisting

Syracuse Scouts To Receive Pro Deo et Patria Award Sunday
Eagle Scout Daniel R. Jetmore and Star Scout Douglas Bushong will be the recipients of the Lutheran scouting Pro Deo et Patria award as a part of the Youth Sunday activities of Grace Lutheran churth in Syracuse this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Pastor Hertenstein announces that members of the Luther league will also participate in the worship service in various capacities: Liturgists Mark Lea and Vicki Arnold; readers: Dave Arnold and Ron Hertenstein; acolytes. David Snyder and Rod Fick: ushers. Susan Miller, Cathy Fick, Barbara Klenke and Marsha Strickler. Joel Burkholder will be the organist for the service. In order for Eagle Scout Jetmore and Star Scout Bushong to receive the Pro Deo et Patria award they had to complete five major items under the tiles of Faith, Life and Practice. Witness. Worship and Service. As a part of Faith they were required to display a knowledge of the Commandments and Creed, the Lord’s Prayer and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Under Life and
Kosciusko Chapter OES Holds Initiation Kosciusko chapter number 160, Order of the Eastern Star, met in the Masonic Temple art Milford on Wednesday evening, for a called meeting. Mrs. C. J. Myers, worthy matron, and William Perry, worthy patron, presided in the east. Miss Donna Gene Davidsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davidsen. was initiated into the order with her grandfather. John Davidsen, presiding during the initiation. After the close of the meeting the Star staff — Mrs. Paul Kizer, Mrs. John Augsburger. Jr., Mrs. Kenneth Ryman, Mrs. Evar Troup. Mrs. Bryant Curtis and Mrs. Duane Graff, presented a beautiful and informative ceremony. Refreshments were served in the dining room by Mrs. Lester Purcell, Mrs. Frank Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruch. Visitors present were Mrs. Ellen Monahan of Mt. Morris Chapter number 361. Tupper Lake, N. Y., aunt of Miss Davidsen; and Mrs. Evelyn Chapman of New Haven chapter number 593. New Haven. The next stated meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, with the election of officers.

Practice these scouts gave evidence of daily Bible reading and prayer; regular church, Sunday school and youth attendance. Under witness they gave evidence of good stewardship habits and under worship they gave evidence of a knowledge of the church liturgy, the altar and its furnishings and the church year. Under service they were required to give 150 hours of their time to various special activities in the church and then to complete a special project assigned by the pastor. / Eagle Scout- Daniel R. Jetmore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jetmore of Syracuse, prepared as his special project a bookshelf that is in* use in Luther hall. Star Scout Douglas Bushong, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aven Bushong of Syracuse, made a pirate treasure chest in which the nursery department keep their toys. Both scouts are members of local Troop Unit 28 of the Pioneer Trails Council and will be presented by their former scoutmaster Fred J. Traster and their present scoutmaster William Bailey.
Parked Car Hit Oh Main Street Mrs. Oliver Hibschman of r 1 Syracuse had her parked car damaged $475 last Wednesday at 2:40 p.m. when it was struck by a car driven by Walter Graff. Syracuse. Mrs. Hibschman had just parked her 1965 Ford four-door when Mr. Gnaff. who was driving north on Hjmtington street, turned east on Main street at the bank comer. He misjudged the distance and hit the left rear end of Mrs. Hibschman’s car parked in front of Gamble’s. Damage to the Hibschman car was to the left rear fender, trunk lid and tail light. Mr. Graffs car was damaged an estimated $225 to tlie right front fender, grill and head light. Mr. Graff was taken to the office of a local physician following the accident where he was examined and advised to see his family physician. He was suffering shock. ESCAPES INJURY Becky Morris, r 2 Syracuse, a passenger in the car being driven by Charles W. Thompson, 16. r 1 New Paris, when it careened off the road and struck a fence, telephone pole and two mailboxes, was uninjured following the accident last Friday. Other teenagers in the car received injuries and the driver was admitted to the Goshen hospital. Thompson was charged with unreasonable speed.
Jefferson Twp. Ends Year With $1,254.17 The Jefferson annual report which appears elsewhere in this issue shows the township had a balance of $1,254.17 in all accounts at the close of 1966. The township’s 1966 balance on January 1 was $1,331.23 with $6,239.76 receipts during the year and $6,316.82 disbursements. Business was transacted in the township, dog and library accounts during the year. The report is signed by John Biller, out-going trustee. Pomona Grange In Plymouth Meeting The St-Mar-Kos Pomona Grange met with the Menominee Grange in Plymouth for the regular January meeting on the 19th. A pot luck supper was held. Ben Thompson, master, presided over the meeting, with 12 officers answering to roll call. Five subordinate granges gave reports of activities, namely, Waubee, Harmony, Menominee, Bremen and New Tamerack. Mrs. Glen Pinkerton announced a silent auction to be held at the February meeting and that her committee would provide tlie dessert at that time. The program was in charge of Mrs. Herman Miller. “Work for the Night is Coming” and “God Be With You” were sung by the group. Ben Thompson read “A Philosophy of Life”. Responses to roll call were “My most interesting experience as a Grunge member”. Otho BonDurant discussed some of the issues and new bills that are in the state legislature at the present time, with open discussion from the members. Mrs. Miller used “Take Each Day” as her dosing thought. She asked that each subordinate grange provide a number for the February meeting program. She also explained the art and photography contests which will be one of the lecturer's projects. The Elkhart Pomona Grange will be asked to provide an exchange program for the April meeting, which will be held at the New Tamerack Grange hall. February 16 is the date for the next meeting at Bremen. Pot luck supper at 6:30 CST. Elect Officers And Directors For Farmers Mutual New officers and directors for the Kosciusko County Farmers Mutual Relief .Asscoiation were elected at the 88th annual meeting of the organization held at 1:30 pan. Saturday, Jan. 21. Ernest Jamison of Claypool was elected president, and Lester Rowland of Etna Green was elected vice president. Lloyd C. Miner was reelected secretary and treasurer. Charles Outcelt of r 2 Pierceton and Lester Rowland were re-elect-ed to three-year terms on the association's board of directors. The association has offices at 118 west Market street, Warsaw. SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DURING WEEK END Raymond Dilley, 35, Syracuse, escaped injury at 8:30 Saturday evening when his truck struck an embankment 10 miles northeast of Warsaw. Investigating officers said he failed to see a stop sign at art intersection and his truck left, the end of the road striking the embankment. Damages were listed at $750. Phillip Fawley of Syracuse was involved in a minor mishap in the Warsaw school parking lot with damages estimated at S2O each to the cars owned by Fawley and Margaret Vanderripe of Warsaw. State Grange Confab Saturday At Plymouth The state grange district conference for the northern district was held Saturday, Jan. 21, at the First Methodist church in Plymouth. Instructions for the masters, lecturers. secretaries, home economics chairmen, agriculture committees, deputies, youth committees and the centennial membership committee chairmen of each grange, were given by state officers. Fifteen granges of the district were represented. These attending from Waubee Grange in Milford were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pinkerton, Mrs. Helene Faulkner. Mrs. Esther Charlton. Mrs. Glen Pinkerton, Mrs. Robert Hollar and Mrs. Herman Miller.
