Sgt. Larry E. Nelson Home From Viet Nam Sgt. Larry E. Nelson is enjoying a brief leave with his family and other relatives and friends here following 12 months service with the third brigade, 25th infantry, armored cavalry in Viet Nam. He is a career man with 13 years to his credit. Sgt. Nelson expects to receive orders to return to duty about February 6. -NW_ . MRS. AARON HINESLEY SUFFERS BROKEN BONE Mrs. Aaron Hinesley, who slipped on the icy steps at the Vaughn Hinesley home in North Webster New Year's Day, was found to have a broken bone in the left leg and is now wearing a walking cast. —NW—MIKE VANATOR HOME ON MID-SEMESTER VACATION Mike Vanator. a Purdue university student, is spending a week with his parents between semesters. His mother. Mrs. Ray Vanator. and Mrs Ermal Vanator. his grandmother. drove to Lafayette Friday to bring him home. HOME FROM HOSPITALS Mrs. Donald Cretcher returned to her home Friday from the Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw where she was admitted a week ago last Monday and underwent major surgery' Friday. Mrs. Mildred Brady opened the meeting with all members singing —America, the Beautiful", followed by the creed and pledge to the | flag. Information on the history of the song of the month "I Would Be True” was given by Mrs. Russell Mickley. Mrs. Ray Ferguson read a poem. "The Gift" for meditation. She also explained the point system for standard and honor clubs. New program books were dis- | tributed and reviewed and a discussion held on ways and means. Mrs. Mickley passed out packages of "pills" which members are to take following each evening meal until the next regular meeting. Each "pill” is a piece of paper penalty (money) to The put aside for the club treasury. Some of these penalties include one cent for each dollar spent that day for the family groceries, one cent for each child. etc. Members ! are looking forward to having much fun with this project as well as adding to club finances Mrs. Everett Butler. It shows balances on hand Deceml>er 31 of $5,231.50 in the general fund. $3,696.16 m the motor vehicle highway fund, no balance in the fireman’s fund and $1.469 22 in the cumulative capital improvement fund. The report shows total receipts and balance in the general fund of $19.542 28 with $14,310.78 being disbursed; t<Xal receipts and balance of $6,501.50 in the MVH fund with $2,805.34 being spent for materials: $332.26 on hand from January 1, 1966, in the fireman's fund which was transferred to - the general fund; and $1,469.22 in receipts and

Specialized Training Program Set For Tonight At Warsaw
A specialized training program will be held this evening (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. in the Warsaw high school. The program is for juniors and seniors and will highlight Jerry Helvey, vice president of the Lakeland school board, as the keynote speaker. Following Mr. Helvey’s talk two periods will be held to allow the students to visit the representatives from the various schools. Among the schools to be represented will be International Business. Milford FFA Preparing For Upcoming Events | The Milford FFA Chapter is currently preparing itself for several j upcoming events. Sometime in Feb- i ruary the chapter will be entering ! i several of its members in several 1 FFA district two contests. The | chapter plans to enter the parlimentary procedure contest, the | impromtu speech contest, the pub-, lie speaking contest, the FFA Creed speaking contest and even perhaps the chapter display contest. plus the essay contest. The question may arise, "Why enter all of these contests” These contests are designed to build i leadership into the Future Farmer so that he may take a more active part in his community in later life. That should answer a bt of questions besides this one which are not presented here. Leadership is a thing to develop and this the FuI ture Farmer’s way of doing it. .Also the chapter is currently preparing itself for the county 4-H and FFA judging contests. This is no small job. but when it is done, these boys will know a good animal from a not so good an animal, they , will be able to identify many seeds 1 from manv plants. : Last but not least, the chapter is planning to hold a “Slave Sale” as mainly a money making project. However it should be realized that much valuable experience will be gained by the Future Farmers as thev go to work for their various : employers. Fellowship Class Meets January 17 Hie Feilowshrp class of the Syracuse Church of God met January 17 iij the home of Mrs. Vivian Priddy. There were eight members and two guests, Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Haffner, present. Rev. Walter Williams, class president, conducted the meeting. Mrs. Phyliss Troup gave tlie devotions reading the first 21 verses of Matthew. Comments were given and a sentence prayer offered by those present. Melvin Niles was in charge of the entertainment. He asked questions on the Bible. He then read an article on Israel. A game called “Simon Says” w’as enjoyed by the group. Mrs. Haffner dismissed the meeting with prayer. Each member had taken a sack lunch which was auctioned, then eaten. A social hour followed. The next meeting will be February 21 in the home of James Druckamiller and Mrs. Troup. Mrs. Walter Williams will give the devotions.

Twilighters Club Holds Meeting Mrs. Rolland Hodgson entertained for the January 18 meeting of the Syracuse Twilighters Bunco club with 13 members in attendance. Mrs. Franklin Ringler was co-host-ess. President Mrs. James Mench presided for the brief business meeting followed by a report by Mrs. Eugene Henning, • secretarytreasurer. High, travel and door prizes went to Mrs. Bill Cobum; low, Mrs. Robert Moser. Birthday gifts from secret pals and the dub went to Mrs. Tim Darr. Mrs. Hodgson and Mrs. Adrian Zollinger. Mrs. Warren Benson and Mrs. Cobum received anniversary gifts. The February meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Coburn with Mrs. Charles Searfoss assisting. A white elephant gift exchange will be held. Summer Camp: A place where small boys go for their mother’s vacation.
