20 Years Ago - January IS. 1047 An eight pound girt. Jane Aim, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wuthrich. Sunday at 1:30 pjn. at the Goshen hospital. A daughter, Pamela Ann, weighing five pounds five ounces was born to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Treesh, Monday at 8 a.m. at the Goshen hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Treesh of Milford and Mr. and Mrs, W. I. Geiger of Syracuse are the grandparents. A son was bom to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stump of Milford at the McDonald hospital at U2O Tuesday. The name and-weight of the newcomer could not be ascertained on Wednesday noon. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Ora and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Stump are die grandparents Mr., and Mrs. Cloyd Hall of Nappanee announce the engagement of their daughter. Betty Louise, to John Linn, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Linn. jNo date has been set for the wedding Emory E. Little has announced his intentions of opening a general insurance agency in Milford with a downtown office location. George Roscoe, age 87. a resident of Goshen for the past 64 years, died Tuesday, January 7. at the McDonald hospital in Warsaw. He was director of the Milford band during one simmer season. Mrs. Carl Duncan gave a pink and blue shower last Wednesdayevening for Mrs. Dale Stump. For-ty-three guests enjoyed a nursery itiyme contest, and each wrote Mrs. Stump a letter which is to be read later. The guest of honor received many pretty and useful Rifts. 30 Years Ago - January 21, 1937 Mrs. Minme E. Wilson. 54. died at her home in Nappanee Saturday, after a two days’ illness of influenza. She is survived by six brothers. Harvey and Howard McDonald of Milford; Ford. Rollo and Orville of Nappanee; and Huvert of Mich., and a sister. Mrs. William Miler of Nappanee. Milford beat Syracuse 26 to 21 in the Friday evening game. Elizabeth Jane Bachman. 93. died December 14 of complications and infirmities of old age. Funeral services were held for Charles S. Rhodes, died Thursday night, Jan. 6. at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Edward Cox. at Milford Junction The cause of her death was given as complications and followed an illness of more than two years. The ice on Waubee lake is about eight inches thick now and the Milford Grain and Milling Company started their ice harvest Tuesday morning. , Pierceton beat Milford with a score at 29 to 22. Beer were united in marriage at the clerk's office Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Squire Graham. The couple will reside on a farm west of Milford. Jacob Hoover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hoover, south east of Milford, died Tuesday evening. Mr. Hoover was 56 years ok. and unmarried. He had been sick for several weeks. COL W. F. COdy. “Buffalo Ball” soldier, hunter and scout, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his sister in Denver. Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Mace Hollar are the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy born Wednesday morning of last week. They live west of Hastings. Those who spent Sunday with Samuel Dewart and wife: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dewart of Milford. Mrs. Ruth Roop and Mr. and Mrs. James Dewart. Monday marked the 53d anniversary of the memorable cold Neu- Year's of January 1, 1864. The mercury stood at 28 degrees below zero. — Silver Lake Record. The Syracuse Cement plant was compelled to dose down last week on account of a shortage of coal. Many men will be thrown out of employment for at least a time. Many of the merchants share in their misfortune and are allowing them to purchase groceries until the plant resumes operations. George Rinkenberg of west of Milford was in town Tuesday with a bad of oats, selling it for 50 cents a bushel It is conceded that Mr. Rinkenberg raised the best field of corn grown west of Milford.

SA YINGS BONDS SALES DOUBLED Joe Ettinger, chairman of the Kosciusko county U. S. savings bonds committee, has received a report revealing that the county's savings bonds sales for November were $65.095 compared with $33,553 for the corresponding period of last year. The state’s sales for November were $10,676,387 which is a gain of 3.7 per cent compared with sales of last November Forty-nine of the state’s 92 counties reported sales gains for the month when compared with sales of November 1965.

Syracuse Locals Mr. and Mrs. Art Miller ot Knapp Lake have returned from a vacation trip. Rev. and Mrs. Littler of Frankfort spent several days at their Lake Wawasee home while attending conference in the community. Mrs. Valeria Hughes, Syracuse, has returned home from a trip to California where she visited with relatives and visited Disneyland and other points of interest. Mrs. Thelma Dahl, Syracuse, continues to improve at her home. She is' still confined to the house. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Guy and Mrs. Georgia Buster, Syracuse, attended the Kosciusko county Senior Citizens meeting at Warsaw last Monday night. Jackson Twp. Ends Year With Balance of $2,236 Jackson township ended the year 1966 with a balance of $2,236.83 according to' the township trustee’s (abstract) report of receipts and disbursements for tiie calendar year 1966. The township had a January 1, 1966. balance of $6,134.00 with receipts of $9,417.85 and disbursements of $10,988.15. Business was transacted in the township, dog and civil township bond funds. Trustee Eldred Metzger states that the report is up “due to the fact we are buying a new fire engine”. Mr. Metzger signed the report.
