Pierceton Stops Larwill, 86*65 Leading at all quarters, tiie Cubs rolled over Larwill Friday night at Pierceton. 86 to 65. After a well played first half, the game deteroriated into a mad scramble. Hie Cubs looked bad against the press for a time, then solved it while hitting from both field and foul line. Gary Boggs led the Cubs in his first starting assignment with 21 points Dana Cone 17, Dick Henson 18, Barry Reed 13, Steve Reed 8, (.lint Pletcher 5, and Brad Schuldt 4, completed the Pierceton scoring. Mrs Hom presided at the business meeting when reports were heard from Mrs. Elmer Stucky and Mrs. Juanita Games, who told of visiting several area nursing homes and visttmg with Mrs. Ella Miller m one of the nursine hemes Mrs. Miller is a former Syracuse resident. The next meeting will be December 26 in the home of Mrs. Elmer Stuckv Mrs. Eppley will present the lesson.

Milford Splits Week End Games, Syracuse Downed In Close One
Milford split its weekend games while the Jackets were downed by Concord in a close one. The Trojans were defeated by New Paris, 62-55 FYiday on the Syracuse hardwood and protected the coveted silver horseshoe Saturday as they downed the South Whitley Bulldogs, 75 -66 on the Larwill court. The Jackets fought a hard game but couldn’t quite catch the Minutemen from Elkhart County as time ran out with the Minutemen in the lead. Trojans Lose By Mark Ramser The Milford Trojans were put down Friday night by New Paris in what seemed to be an upset for the Milford squad. The final score was 62-55. Milford was leading New Paris at the end of the first quarter by a score of 17-13. However. New Paris came up from behind in the second to score 18 big ones to Milford’s 10 making the score 3127 at the half stop. It seemed like New Paris the rest of the i way. Milford only gained one i point at the end of the third then New Paris outscored Milford by four in the final period. Milford stayed in rebounding with a total of 41 to New Paris’ 34. The leading scorer for Milford was Phend with 17. Park also had 10 rebounds. Wuthrich came in with 10 points and led rebounding with 13. Brown had 15 points and 11 rebounds. New Paris’ leader was Pepple
with 20 points. Bob Hollar followed with 17. They were the only two men in double figures. Hollar played the guard position ana Pepple was in the forward slot. This game New Pai is had a better chance at the free throw line than did the Milford Trojans. New Paris hit 18 for 24. 75 per cent while Milford nailed only 11 for 20 at 53 per cent. Defeat County Foe Milford took on and defeated a county opponent Saturday evening as they played South Whitley in the Larwill gym. Milford was looking for this game as well as South Whitley. The Trojans still retain the county horseshoe by a score of 75-66 The Milford Trojans, under the direction of Bill Dorsey, were really up for this game after the defeat by New Paris the preceding evening. Milford out rebounded South Whitley by 13 and at one time held a 20 point lead over the i county rival. Lender for Milford was Dan 1 Brown with 25 points and knockI ir- '-ff 22 rebounds. Following we-e Phend with 21 points and 15 i ~~t ;nds and Wuthrich with 13
points and 11 rebounds. The Milford squad led in points per quarter over the South Whitley Bulldogs except in the last quarter where Whitley gained one. Milford hit 47 per cent of their field goals and 58 per cent of their free throws. Milford is now averaging 6 points per game. Ted Speicher fed his teammates with six assists and remains to be the team's leader in the category. In the rebounding totals it is a? close race between the three tall men, each running neck and neck. Wuthrich is the leader with 93. but Park Phend is not far behind with 92 and Dan Brown has 90. Phend is still the team’s leading sccrer with an average of 18.6 points per game. South Whitley's leading scorer was Roberts with 16 followed by Enyeart with 13 and Frantz with 11. Fore led the home club with 14 each while Steinbarger added 12 and Chiddister 10. Concord pulled steadily away from the Jackets in the first quarter to post a 17 to 8 lead. Late in the second quarter the Jackets caught fire and took a 3 point lead to the. dressing room at half time. The Minutemen came back and retook the lead at the end of three. 45 42. Syracuse outscored the MBts in the final stanza but not quike enough to pull out the game. |rhere were not many errors committed in the ballgame. 17 and they were evenly divided between the two clubs. Syracuse committed 8 aud Concord 9. Tp-n Thornburg. Bob Pilcher, and Brad Bauer are close together j-, b-t»le to lead the team in assists for the season. Pilcher and Bauer are also in the running in team leadership in both scoring and rebounding. Joining Bauer and Pilcher in the scoring department are Rob Clevenger and John Wortinger. Dave Wickstrom and Clevenger join the two in the re- ; bounding department which is a j very fierce job. Syracuse also had troubles in the B-team contest and lost 45 to 38. Rich Bell led the team with 9 and Pettit took game honors with 12. In the B-teum scoring race Greg ; Smith, Alan Hollar, and Rich Bell are working for the lead. Bell and ] Hollar are joined by Curt Stucky for the lead in rebounding while Steve Conrad and Smith are lead--ing the team in assists.
