Standing Committees Report At Legion Auxiliary Meeting Standing committees reported»during the regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary of Syracuse held last Tuesday evening. Those reports follow: Child welfare, Mrs. Wally Huffer. chairman—Discussed Christmas grocery baskets with a decision being reached not to take part in the theater project this year as the organization has its own program. Community Service—Mrs. Delbert Brown reported one bed and one | walker in use. A pair of crutches ; have been donated to the unit and approval was given to purchase another hospital bed. Finance — Mrs. Everett Crow reported a meeting of the committee | had been held and plans for several projects are being worked out. The : new budget was read and approved. Girls' State, Mrs. Max Leemon, chairman—Read a new system and discussed same. Junior Activities, Mrs. Carl Myrick. chairman—reported a Halloween party was held after school one evening with traditional games, refreshments and favors. Knightstown Home. Mrs. Blanche Kline, chairman—the unit has an 18-!year-old boy this year. Mrs. Kline reported she would send him a birthday present in November. Membership—Mrs. Betty' Dust reported that personal contacts and letters have been made to all members. Poppy—Mrs. T. L. Kline, chairman, reported the order had been sent in last month. Rehabilitation. Mrs. Ann Davis, chairman—a card was sent and a gift taken to a local veteran. ! Mrs. Tim Darr, president, had .called the meeting to order in the visual form with the roll call of officers. secretary and reports being given. Mrs. Joe Bushong, chaplain, reported two cards and two plants were sent to hospitalized members—Mrs. Max Ganshorn and Mrs. George Xanders. Thank you cards were read. A new memorial plaque is to be {purchased and attached to the old i one and a coffee maker is to be purchased for use at meetings. I Mrs. Darr announced she had been notified by Legion Commander Wayne Coy that a Veterans’ program would be held Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the town square. At noon lunch will be served to veterans at the Legion hall. IN SAIGON — Pfc. Ernest R. Leitch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Leitch of r T Syracuse, is stationed eight miles from Saigon, South Viet Nam. with the army motor pool. Ernest graduated from Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Md.. September 23 and after a 14-day furlough at the home of his parents returned to Fort Dix, N, J., for his transfer papers. His address is: Pfc.
