REMEMBER . . . WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO The Syracuse board of zoning appeals met Thursday evening and after some discussion the board granted a variance which was petitioned to permit the building of a garage on property owned by Newell Neuhauser. Nelson A. Miles, Syracuse, and James Alberts, Indianapolis, were taken to the Goshen hospital Tuesday following a two-car accident north of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Kell and family of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schlabaugh of Cromwell visited Mammouth Cave. Ky.. recently. Mrs. Harvey Gangwer. 74, r 3 Syracuse, died at 5:45 am. Saturday. Surviving with the husband are one daughter, two grandsons, and one sister. The Syracuse Pythian club met in the home of Mrs. Ethel Causer. Cromwell. Thursday for a carry-in dinner with 13 members present. FIVE YEARS AGO The Halloween parade sponsored by the PT A Tuesday. Oct. 31. was a huge success. There were 212 children participating. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wells are the parents of a son bom October 27 in the Goshen hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Niles celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday. Oct. 28. They have seven children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The condition of Linda Robertson. 16-year-old daughter of Mrs. Eddie Sechrist, injured in a one car accident at Ogden Island. Lake Wawasee. Saturday afternoon, is reported as fair in Goshen hospital. Mrs. Elsa Greiger entertained at dinner and bridge in her home Wednesday night. Syracuse Locals Pvt David Kline is spending a 20-day furlough in Syracuse with his wife, Jeannie, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Johnston. David has been stationed in North Carolina.
