HARD TIMES PARTY HELD BY MILFORD LEGION AUXILIARY Ancil Gei?er Unit 221 of the Milford Auxiliary met in the Legion hall on October 4 for a hard times party with 21 members present. President Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile opened the meeting in regular form. Membership chairman reported the organization has 88 paid memberships. Those who haven’t paid are to contact Mrs. Noble Fisher. Russell McCartney 14 years erf age from the Knightstown Soldiers and Sailors Home is the child the Milford unit will sponsor this year. These children have all been sponsored through the Indiana American Legion Auxiliaries through the years. Another costume occasion is coming up for the past presidents erf the unit October 12 at the home of

Mrs. Noble Fisher. Americanism being the first in the Auxiliary’s minds, the president called upon the chairman who in turn read a reading that set the members to work. “What is . Becoming of Our Country?” As a patriotic organization the Auxiliary is deeply concerned. “Side by Side”, being an appropriate song for the month, was sung by the members. Following the close of the meeting hard times refreshments were served by the committee in charge. Mrs. Polmer Michael won the door prize for the best dressed with runner-up Mrs. Worth Jackson. Syracuse Locals Mrs. Thomas Gilbert, Syracuse, left Monday noon for Scottsburg to be with her father, Robert E. Buster, who underwent surgery in the Scottsburg hospital on Tuesday. The Robert Croumlick family, r 1 Syracuse, have moved to North Liberty. # Mrs. John Cooper of near Rome City visited friends in Syracuse Monday afternoon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Ryman of Vienna, 111., have been visiting in the Syracuse community for several days.
