National 4-H Week
National 4-H week is being observed thoughout the country this week with some 94,000 Indiana 4-H club members joining the celebration. The official observance is from September 24 through October 1. Recognition will be given to the achievements of nearly 2.25 million boys and girls who have participated in the activities of some 96,000 clubs. Organized for young people between the ages of 10 and 18 in cities, towns, suburbs and rural areas, 4-H clubs carry on a wide variety_of education projects in civic and community service, in farming, homemaking and personal improvement. In all more that 40 projects are available to members.

During the course, he was trained to repair internal combustion engines and wheeled vehicle chassis components Instruction was given in the fundamentals of electrical and transmission systems. Kenneth Newcomer In Viet Nam SAIGON, VIET NAM — Army Specialist Fifth Class Kenneth R. Newcomer. 29, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Newcomer, 312 N. Harrison, Syracuse. Ind., was assigned to the 506th Field Depot in Saigon, Viet Nam, on September 12. Spec. Newcomer, a mechanic in Headquarters Company at the depot, entered the army in 1954 and was last assigned at Fort Carson, Colo. He is a 1964 graduate of Jimtown high school. Elkhart. Ind. His wife. The goal of developing good citizenship is foremost in all 4-H programs. It is emphasized by the national 4-H emblem which stands for the pledge: “My Head to clearer thinking, my Heart to greater loyalty, my Hands to larger service and my Health to better living, for my club, my community and my country.” Here in the county a large 4-H auction is held during the county fair. Buyers are feted by 4-H club members during a banquet to be held on Thursday in honor of National 4-H club week. Can you think of a better way to celebrate? National 4-H week deserves the support, cooperation and respect of every citizen.

OES INITIATION HELD WEDNESDAY AT MILFORD Kosciusko Chapter number 160, Order of Eastern Star met at a called meeting Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Masonic Temple at Milford. Mrs. William Burgett was initiated with Mrs. Charles Myers, worthy matron, and William Perry, worthy patron, presiding. After the close of the meeting, the star staff — Mrs. Donald Cecil, Mrs. Robert Geiger, Mrs. Paul Kizer. Mrs. Bryant Cintis and Mrs. Duane Graff — presented a colorful ceremony. The chapter and dining rooms were decorated in a fall theme. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Beiswanger, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Graff and Mrs. G. F. Wolferman. A silent auction was held during the closing period with proceeds going to the project of the worthy grand matron and worthy grand patron of the Indiana grand chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
r fl f ' MRS. GREGORY E. MISHLER Miss Brenda Schramm And Gregory Mishler Wed September 11 In Bremen
Grace Evangelical United Brethren church in Bremen was the scene of the September 11 marriage of Miss Brenda Sue Schramm and Gregory E. Mishler. The double ring ceremony was performed at 2:30 o’clock in the afternoon by Rev. Elwood Walker. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow W. Schramm of r 1 Bremen, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade E. Mishler of Milford. Palms banked the altar forming a background for branched candelabra and lighted tapers with altar vases and wedding baskets of white gladioli and Fuji mums. White satin bows and greenery marked the pews of the white carpeted aisle. Music was provided by Miss Kathryn Moor, Bremen, at the organ. She acompanied Ronald Hoskins, Warsaw, brother-in-law of the bride, as he sang “Because,” “Whither Thou Goest,” and "The Wedding Prayer.” In Candlelight Crepe The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a floor-length bridal gown of candlelight crepe, fashioned with an Empire bodice and bell sleeves encircled with scroll braid, a modified neckline and sheath skirt accented by a removable chapel train that flowed |in soft folds from the back bow. Her butterfly bouffant veil of silk illusion was secured to an open crown pillbox of matching crepe. A bouquet [of garlenias and moss green feathery
chrysanthemums in a cascade arrangement with white satin streamers in love knots was carried by the bride. Mrs. Ronald Hoskins, Warsaw, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Patricia Mishler, Milford, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Suzane Kimble, Bremen, were bridesmaids. They were gowned alike in moss green chiffon and beige crepe. The dresses were styled with chiffon empire bodices, long sleeves, scooped necklines and sheath type skirts of crepe. Watteau back panels of chiffon and crepe were accented by back bows. They wore open ring headpieces of moss green chiffon with velvet ribbon and circular veils. The matron of honor carried a cascade bouquet of moss green tinted Fuji mums centered with a feathery white chrysanthemum. The bridesmaids carried cascade bouquets of moss Fuji mums. Melinda Hoskins, Warsaw, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a floor-length dress styled like the older attendants. She wore a wrist corsage of white and moss green pompons and carried a basket of petals. Jan W T idup, Milford, was best man. Groomsmen were Rodney Bailey and John Beiswanger, also of Milford. Bremen, brother of the bride; Bernard Mishler, Milford, brother of the bridegroom; and Philip Brown of Milford. The mother of the bride wore a two-piece blue-green paisley brocaded suit with a moss green crepe blouse, brown and moss green accessories and a corsage of pompons in fall shades. The bridegroom’s mother wore a three-piece silk suit in a creamy champagne shade with a mink collar and brown accessories. Her corsage was Talisman roses. Miss Barbara Schreiner, Bremen, and Mrs. Eric Bolt, Nappanee, attended the two guest books. Reception in Schramm Home A reception following the ceremony was held in the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. James Shell and Miss Barbara Hand of Bremen cared for the gifts. Serving at the reception table were Miss Nancy Hall, Warsaw; Mrs. E. Dennis Wetter, South Bend; Miss Sally Sullivan and Miss Debra Burket. both of Bremen. The couple left on a wedding trip and on its return is residing in Indianapolis. For traveling, Mrs. Mishler wore an olive green and black ensemble with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of Bremen. high school and attended Stephens college at Columbia. Mo. She is a member of Phi Beta Lambda sorority. The bridegroom is a graduate of Milford high school, attended Indiana university extension school at Fort Wayne, and is currently attending the Indiana college of mortuary science in Indianapolis.
