I two little old ladies, Abby and Martha Brewster, portrayed by Dee ..Kreglow and Kay Baldwin. The lafees have been poisoning their gentlemen callers and having their nephew played by James Wright, who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt, bury them in the Panama Canal (or should we say the basement?) Another nephew, Mortimer, portrayed by John Baldwin, accidently discovers victim number 12 of his kind, friendly and charitable aunts and tries to protect his aunts and their prospective victims. Pamela Sabin played Mortimer’s fiancee who can’t understand why Mortimer is acting so strange all of a sudden. |to his credit He looked very much i like Boris Karlof (a very good acting and make up job), a recent plastic surgery masterpiece of Dr. Einstein (Herman not Albert). Barth Butalla, who made his first appearance last week, played Dr. Einstein. Supporting roles were played by Terrill Whitney, Tom Locher, Bill Robinson, Joe Yoder, Edward Steele, Charles Cassel, Terry Walker and a stranger who made an appearance at curtain call. To tell how each actor or actress portrayed his or her part would take more time and space than we have, but to sum the acting, stage setting, costumes and make-up into a few words, guess it would have to be like this—-marvelous, excellent, egregious and etc. Other words, it was one of the best plays presented at the Wawasee Lake theater that this writer has viewed. Starring in the next production, "The Pajama Game”, which starts tonight (Wednesday, July 20) and ends July 24, will be Michael Sheppard. June Lorimer, Barth Butalla and Pamela Sabin. "The Pied Piper of Hamelin” will be the second production of the Children’s Playhouse. It will be presented Thursday, July 28, and Saturday, July 30. at 1:30 p.m.

Often times a swing that was off to a good start is ruined due to a sudden change of tempo. This usually comes from tension or tightness “setting-in” because you want to force or over power the shot. This being the case you will lash at the ball too soon with the hands, long before your body has had a chance to uncoil and move the hands into a strong sound hitting position. If you stand over the ball and tighten up with your back, leg, and arm muscles, you are bound to have trouble taking a proper relaxed pivot and weight shift, which will result in a lurching, jerking action, of trying to get the job done of striking the ball when the body is fitting every move of the hands. Instead your body should be moving fluidly and moving the hands into good sound positions throughout the swing from start to finish. Remember — where ever the hands go — the body goes. When you start the backswing, preferably with a forward press, the body pivots or turns with a shifting of the weight simultaneously with the hands. As the swing progresses to the top, then starts down, the body not the hands. starts the downswing. The very first move of the down-swing is the planting of the left heel solidly on the ground which will result in the uncoiling of the body, which in turn will pull the hands into a strong hitting position. From this point on the hands, working closely with the right side, move through the hitting area and out toward the target. If by chance the hands start the downswing before the body has had a chance to move, two very wrong things happen — one; the wrists will uncock too soon expending a great source of power needed later in the hitting area, and, —two; the hands move away from the body (instead of dose to the right side) resulting in an out-side-in swing which causes the clubhead to cut across the ball. One common pitfail to the begining golfer stems from the overused expression — “keep your head down.” It is important to keep the head down, but only until the ball has been struck. Once the ball is on its way allow your head to come up to look at the target. If this isn’t done you will find a very restricted finish and a swing that has no chance of getting maximum effectiveness. A proper well balanced finish will tell much of what has happened to the shot. At the finish you should be squarely facing the target with your hips and shoulders, and your weight should be transfered fully to your left side, and your hands should be high and still firmly in control of the dub. Vi FINISH THE SWING Swim Safety Tips From Red Cross Ten “life preservers” were recommended by the Red Cross today for the millions of Americans who will take part in water sports this summer. “Swimming and boating are responsible for most of the annual drownings in this country—6,7oo in 1964,” declared Earl Money and Stanley Kintzel, water safety chairmen of the Kosciusko County Red Cross. They also stated, "By exercising proper care, many of these fatalities could have been avoided. They listed these precautions against drowning and other waterside accidents: Learn to swim. If you can swim a little, learn to swim better. Your Red Cross chapter can tell you when its next swimming class is scheduled. Always swim with a companion —never alone. For long distance swimming, have someone in a boat accompany you. Swim in a safe place. The presence of lifeguards usually indicates the area is safe for swimming. Before diving, make sure the water is deep enough and there are no hidden objects such as submerged rocks. If you have not been swimming since last summer, take it easy at first. Recognize your limitations and don’t try to go beyond them. Wait at least an hour after eating before going in the water, and don’t swim when overheated or overtired. Don’t depend on a tube or inflated toy to hold you up. They can slip away from you. Watch your step. Walk, don’t run on pier decks. Don’t skylark.
Try to remain calm in case of trouble in the water. Assume a face-
up position, keep your hands under water, and slowly move hands and feet. If your boat capsizes, don’t swim away from it. Most small craft will float even when filled with water. Along with its safety suggestions, the Red Cross issued the following checklist by which a swimmer can grade his swimming knowledge: What Is Your Swimming 1.Q.? You are swimming in open water and get a severe leg cramp, you should: (a) Roll over to a face-down position and massage the aching part. (b) Swim to shore as quickly as possible. (c) Tread water and call for help. You are out in a boat in rough water and the boat capsizes, you should : (a) Get away from the boat, tread water, and call for help. (b) Try to swim to shore. (c) Hang onto the boat lou are swimming in heavy surf and find yourself being carried out to sea, you should: (a) Swim towards shore at an angle. (b) Swim to one side and not against the current. (c) Stop swimming and float with the current You are walking out into the water and you step into a deep hole, you should: (a) Drop your head forward and move your arms under water doepaddle style. (b) Throw up your hand and yell for help. (c) Sink to the bottom and push off with your feet to bring yourself “PYou want to test your endiranre with some distance swimming, you should: (a) Ask the lifeguard to keep an eye on you. (b) Swim parallel to shore. (c) Arrange for a boat to accompany you. You are climbing up a pool ladder whso you notice someone in trouble behind you, about four feet from the side of the pool, you should: (a) Hold onto the ladder and extend your leg back for him to reach. (b) Call the lifeguard. (c) Swim out to him and bring him back to the side. Scoring Give yourself two points for each maximum score possible is 16. If you scored less than that, better investigate your Red Cross chapter’s water safety classes! If you reached the top mark, you might qualify for water safety aide or instructor courses. Answers (a) The face-down position enables you to float while you are relieving the cramped muscle. (c) Boats usually float (b) This maneuver takes you away from the current and conserves your energy so you can swim back to shore in a straight line. (a) and (c) Either way will take

you out of a hole. If you use (c) you will continue to push up and down in a bobbing manner, until you’re dear. (b) and (c) Even if a lifeguard could concentrate on a single individual, if you swim out you must swim back. This might overtax your ability. (a) The easiest and safest rescue technique is to extend your reach, whether by arm, a leg, or a reaching pole. Time is the important factor, therefore (b) would be a secondary answer. What To Wear? What To Take Along? If you’re traveling this summer, ladies (and who isn’t in these days of low fares and fast transportation), you’re probably wondering what to take with you and what to leave behind. A good rule to remember is “Do not take more luggage than you can carry!” Often you’ll find that you will have to be your own porter and too many suitcases can create problems at such times. When sightseeing you’ll want a pair of comfortable walking shoes. Speaking of shoes, don’t take more of these than you need. One pair for sightseeing, one pair for dress-up and a pair of bedroom slippers should suffice for most travelers. When packing skirts, pass up the slims — pleated or A-line styles are more comfortable and practical for traveling on busses, trains and planes. Be sure to take a coat with you, preferably one with an all-weather finish and smart enough so it can be worn both day and evening. It’s also a good idea to have one of these inexpensive plastic raincoats that fit into your handbag for an unexpected shower, along with folding rain bonnet and boots. You’ve probably heard many jokes about tourists who festoon their hotel rooms with drip-dry laundry; well, they’re true! Keep these points in mind when shopping and packing for your trip and you’re sure to travel lighthearted.
In order to keep luggage at a minimum, plan your wardrobe

carefully to get the most mileageout of it. Choose a simple color scheme and build your wardrobearound it, using colorful scarves and jewelry for variety. Warm Clothes Be sure to keep the weather in mind when selecting fabrics. You may need both cool and warmweather wear. You’ll find that knits are great all year ’round for most climates, as are wools. Traveling? Take First Aid Supplies An idea that summer vacationers have found useful is to create their own portable first-aid stations. The concept here, of course, if that the whole family should be prepared for the aches, pains and other discomforts and maladies that too often go hand in hand with vigorous outdoor activity. The typical first-aid kit should contain bandages, gauze, iodine and lotions to soothe insect bites or to comfort the over - exposed sun worshiper. If a camping trip is planned, consideration should be given to these first-aid remedies, including snakebit antidotes. For relief from all manner of minor aches and pains, there is even a new sustained-release aspirin, designed to provide prolonged pain relief for up to eight hours. It, too, is a handy thing to have along in the portable first-aid kit since one dose of two tablets can insure uninterrupted pain relief for the equivalent of a full day’s activities in the country, on the shore or looking at the sights. The portable first-aid kit is practical, simple to assemble and need not be bulky. Just about all one requires will fit easily into the car glove compartment or a corner of a family suitcase.
