Lakeland Youth News By Bud Smith ! We have just completed our e--1 lection of officers to the youth I governing board at the Youth Cent'er. We have retained four mem.bers of last year's board so that we I can always have experienced meml bers on the board. These new ! members will also serve two years, i New members are listed below i with the grade they will be in next | fall. They follow: > Senior, Mary Jo Martin; junior, Alice Alfrey; sophomore, Bill Pipp; I freshman. Barb Wolfe; eighth ; grade, Julie Heil and Bill Cutter. We always need two new memI bers for the eighth grade. I know j this w ill make a fine addition to our youth board and I wish to con- ■ gratiilate the winners on their suci cess. ■ Others running for the positions 'were: Senior. Janice Auer: junior. Lu. Ann Mock: sophomore, Dennis Harper; freshman. Donna Hulley; eighth grade. April Schacht and Gary Scott. i It’s very plain to see that no matter which way the election went we would have had a real great group of governing board members. W T e had a vote of 53 per cent of our eligible voters which I think is pretty good considering some of our members live away from here. I do believe, however, this is better than we adults turned out for o>ar primary election. Work is progressing on the new dragstrip at the center. I am not really hurrying on the project since the members do have the other track to use until i get this one finished. This Saturday there will be no dance, but I will furnish free music from 7:30 to 10:30.
