Vanderford For State Representative Dinner Held Syracuse, Ind., April IS—At a kickoff meeting and luncheon held here Wednesday night at Marley’s Steak House, Kosciusko county boosters of Jack C. Vanderford for State Representative launched a campaign to bring his candidacy before the Republican voters of Kosciusko, Fulton, Wabash. Huntington and Whitley counties. The May 3d primary will name three of the eight candidates on the Republican ballot to run at the November election. Mr. Vanderford has been a student of government and at every session of die Indiana legislature for the past 12 years, he has been a consultant of legislative committees, and has also aided various departments of the state government in drawing up bills to present to the legislature. During this period he has become well known in government circles and throughout the state as a strong advocate of the preservation of natural resources and the proper development of recreational areas. Mr. Vanderford is running on his record, and promised at the Wednesday night meeting to serve all the| people in the five-county area, if nominated and elected. He was born at Ligonier, graduated from Purdue university in 1938 in engineering. He went to work for the Perfect Circle Corp., at Hagerstown, but then went into the U. S. Army in 1940 and served six years. He has been a real estate broker and businessman in Kosciusko county since 1946. Mr. Vanderford is married and has a daughter now attending Purdue university. He is now serving as i president of the Syracuse Library Board. Mr. Vanderford was a member of the first Kosciusko School i Reorganization committee. He is a member erf the Indiana Water Pollution Control association. He is a member of the American Legion, is a past master of the Syracuse Masonic lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite at Fort Wayne. His religious preference is the Methodist church. Mr. Vanderford’s candidacy is aided by the ‘Wanderford for Representative Committee.” a volunteer group of Kosciusko county citizens. K. K. McGarvey is chairman of the group. Harold Gray is secretary, J. B Cox is the treasurer, and James Kirkwood and Harry Van Hemert are members. BEWARE! CHILDREN OUT!
