On Sunday they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Norman at Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wolfe of near Fort Wayne visited friends in the Syracuse area Sunday. County Surveyor And Wife In Florida Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brower of North Webster left Friday night for a two week vacation in Florida. Mr. Brower is the Kosciusko county surveyor. They planned on visiting with Mr. and Mrs. James Brower at Stuart, for one week. The men are brothers and the James Browers of ( Pierceton spend several months in Florida each winter. The Charles Browers win also spend some time with Mr. Brower’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. F. Brower, of Pierceton who are wintering at Pafcn Bay, Fla. KOMETSPLAY DES MOINES AND DAYTON The Fort Wayne Komets will play two home games this week. Tonight (Wednesday) they will play Des Moines and Saturday night Dayton. Both games will be played at the Coliseum. The Komets are in third place in the International Hockey League.

New Heating System At Fire Station A complete new heating system has been installed by McGowan Plumbing and Heating Company in the dispatching office and adjoining .room of the Syracuse fire station. I Heating facilities installed when ’ the bidding was constructed in 11961 have proved inadequate in proIviding comfortable heat. The old heating system was also noisy and interfered with meetings and Idephone conversations. The building is the property of Turkey Creek township and the beating renovation wdl be paid for from township funds. 1 St-Mar-Kos Pomona Grange Meets At Mishawaka The St-Mar-Kos Pomona Grange met on Thursday evening, Jan. 20,1 at the New Tamerack Grange hall southeast of Mishawaka. A potluck supper was enjoyed by the members before the meeting was opened by the master, Otho Bondurante. | Roll call was answered by nine officers and the pledge to the flag was given. Mrs. Herman Miller served as secretary pro tern and as youth -chairman, dismissed how the Pomona j Grange coulafelp’ the state and national Grange Youth Leadership i Training Funds. State Director s ; Youth awards, travel and conven- ’ tion scholarships and leadership training for 1966 were explained to those who attended the district conference at Waw’aka recently, by William Thomas, state director. A new grange paper will soon be published by the Branner Publishing Company at Pekin, Ind., and will be a quarterly publication. The Hoosier (Granger will appear for the first time about March 1. I It was suggested that each grange have a membership committee to get members to boost the Grange Centennial Convention which will be observed in November of 1967. j Mrs. Lois Shafer, lecturer, conducted a question and answer period and group singing which included I “Onward Granges” and “Blest Be : the Tie That Binds.” She asked that each subordinate grange provide a ; number for the February meeting. SPEECH WINNER — Virginia Arthur of Milford won fourth m girls' extemporaneous at the annual speech contest held last Saturday at Pierceton. SYRACUSE DRIVER CRASHES INTO HOME AT BENTON A car driven by Richard Firestone, 18, Syracuse, crashed into the living room of the Gail Wixson home at Benton Thursday night at 10:05, injuring the Wixsons son Danny. Mr. and Mrs. Wixson had retired for the night, leaving 16-year-old Danny to watch television. Danny escaped with only a minor injury to his nose. He received first aid treatment from firemen. Firestone was uninjured, but, a passenger in his car, Ronnie Zentz, 25, also of Syracuse, was given emergency treatment in the Goshen hospital for contusions to his chest and right side of his head. He was released after treatment. Firestone and Zent were en route ’ to Goshen, where they are employed, when tlie accident occurred. The investigating officer, Elkhart county deputy sheriff Sgt. [ Warren Swartz, reported Firestone , i had difficulty seeing through the . windshield and drove too close to ,| a sign on the east side of the i road. Swerving to the left, Fire- , j stone lost control of the ear which skidded 60 feet across the pavement and slammed into the front of the Wixson house. The home, located on the west side of U. S. 33, was remedied i last year. The exterior is concrete block. The entire front section of the house was caved inward from the impact of the car. Damages to the house were set at $5,000 and S3OO to the Firestone car. [ EJbenezer Ladies Aid 1 Holds Regular Meeting I The Ebenezer Ladies Aid of northeast of Syracuse met in the home of Mrs. Howard Bitner last I Thursday afternoon. There were 17 members and two guests present. Mrs. Fred Harper and Mrs. Alma I Archer assisted Mrs. Bitner. The president, Mrs. Thereis Doll, presided at the business meeting, i Mrs. Harper gave the devotions. Mrs. Bitner read an article on I “Faith Makes a Difference,” foli lowed by group singing. ENTERTAIN FOR 34TH ANNIVERSARY ' j Mr. and Mrs. Manis Miller of Mil- ; ford entertained Sunday in their * home for the 34th wedding anniversary of Mr. Miller’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Linden Miller of Warsaw. A lovely dinner was enjoyed and an anniversary cake served. Other i guests attending were Mrs. Talmadge Shepherd and daughter Debbie and Garry Miller of Warsaw.
