The plan, in accordance with a : state welfare ruling, will provide , for a placement fee for the expenses incurred in providing services to prospective adoptive parents and in providing care and J services to mothers and families who request adoption services for their children. The fee, as proposed, is S3OO with no reimbursements. This is to be paid at the time of placement of the infant(s) in the adoptive home. The services include: adopive home study, investigation of the child’s background, reports to the court, cost of maintenance of ti>e child prior to adoption, for services provided the natural parents which shall include boarding J care of the natural mother prior to delivery and for cost of medical care of the natural mother and : child. According to the proposed plan charges may be redueed or waived 1 in hardship cases or for other good cause. All reductions or waivers ;

are subject to approval of the state department of public welfare. Under no circumstances shall a particular couple be selected for a child on the basis of financial consideration alone. Placement shall always be determined on the basis of the best plan for the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth and development of the child. The placement fee plan under consideration also gives procedures for handling the fees, placement fee contract, use of funds, care of children whose adoption is contemplated, costs of services to an unmarried mother and improvement of adoption services provided by the county department. Board members tabled their final approval of the plan. Financial Report Director Howard B. Johnson presented members with a copy of the annual report. from the county general fund, disbursements, appropriations and bal- ■ ances. Also shown are operating expenses, fixed charges and equipment, assistance and services, current charges and obligations. Renbarger Resigns During the meeting the board was advised of the transfer of Keith D. Renbarger, a caseworker, o Huntington county as a child welfare worker. The transfer is effective on March 1. OAA In two cases considered for old age assistance both were approved. Two cases were discontinued, 'the 139 recipients received awards of $6,974 and medical expenses of 9,858.14 for a total of $16,832.14. £ Disabled One disabled case was discontinued and the 23 recipents received awards of $1,307 and medical expenses of $1,882.91 few a
total of $3,189.91. ADC • Five new aid to dependent chil-dren-relatives cases were discussed during the meeting. Os these, one was approved for one month to pay a hospital bill, three were approved and one was tabled for more information. Three cases were discontinued. A total of 35 families with 105 children received awards of $3,698 and medical expenses of $1,468.45 for a total of $5,166.45. MAA Three new medical assistance for aged cases were considered and approved. One case was discontinued, A total of $3,449.31 was approved for medical expenses. Wards Fourteen wards of court received $1,255.50 for 434 days care. Medical expenses were $93.90, clothing was $160.53 and school expense was * $22.42 for a total of $1,532.35. < Four wards in institution receiv- < ed 124 days of care which amounted to $630. ] Other amounts approved were: ] Crippled children, $76.30; medical examination for ADC father, $7; j hospital commitment, $608.59; ' {drone, $40.40; office supplies, $142.56; repairs and maintenance, $169- ' .22: mileage. $198.70; and staff salaries. $3,440; for a total of $35,- 1 472.93. ’ Jefferson Twp. Report Published The township trustee’s (abstract > reort for Jefferson township is published elsewhere in this issue of The Mail-Journal. It shows a minus $27.55 balance on January 1 of 1965 with the December 1964 draw not made when last year's reports were filed. A total of $8,472.11 is shown in receipts and $7,113.33 in disbursements for a balance on December 31 of $1,331.23. The report is signed by Royce Biller, trustee.

Ligonier News By ROSE CUNNINGHAM COf C Formulates Plans For Year Chamber of Commerce members held their regular meeting Tuesday evening and formulated plans for the coming year. John Henry, Robert Sedgwick, Robert Kidd. Cliff Pettit and Phil Rack were appointed to work out an area progress report for Ligonier and surrounding area, identifying the growth in employment, building and facilities. The board of directors will organize the following new divisions: Retail, manufacturers, business development, area relations, downtown improvement, long range planning and finance. Ben Glaser, Inc., and Creps Bakery were announced as new members of the chamber.

S/4 Adrian Duesler Returns To Korea S/P4 Adrian Duesler left Ligonier Tuesday, to return to his base assignment in Korea, after spending an emergency leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Duesler. Duesler was called to Ligonier by the death of his brother,. Alan, in an automobile accident, Dec. 18, near Albion. AUDREW HOOTMAN HONORED AT DINNER Audrew Hootman, manager of the Ligonier Kroger store for , many years, was guest of honor at a dinner party Monday evening, at Country Restaurant, north of Gosof Goshen. Mr. Hootman, who will soon be retiring, was presented a gift from the Kroger employees and their husbands and wives. COMMUNITY NEWS Mr’ and Mrs. Louis Moser flew to Washington. D. C., and Woodbridge, Va.. last week end and were guests of Major and Mrs. Robert Barnes and family. Miss Lucille Palin, retired english teacher of the Ligonier high school,,, has gone to Tucson, Ariz., to spend the remainder of the winter. Kenneth E. Donaldson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Donaldson, has been promoted to Airman First Class at Kelley A. F. 8., San Antonio, Texas.
