What has happened to this marvelous world of ours in this twentieth century of God’s grace? Mankind seems to be passing through a sea of. troubles which has no counterpart in human history. * There are wars and rumors of wars among the nations, and many of the nations themselves are split into warring factions, each faction striving for supremacy, and each intolerant of the views, hopes, and rights of others. The great trouble with the world is that men have forgotten God. They no longer seek spiritual guidance, but follow the vain ways of the modern world. We have become a cynical, materialistic generation. If this drift toward world tragedy and chaos is ever stopped, the churches of the world must do it. The world’s hope — out hope — is in God and His Church. He alone can save mankind from a sorrowful fate. The Church seeks to turn the hearts of men from the ways of war and fear and hate to the ways of peace and love. Copxntki 1966 Kniur Aditrtumf Sfnm. l»e , Stntburg, V*

Ask The Clergy
Q. Should ministers run for a political office?—Syracuse A. According to the constitution any qualified citizen may run for political office. Ministers are often called upon to help those in public office. Rev. Moyers is the press secretary for President Johnson. * * • Q. I do not understand about prayer in public school. Can my child pray in school or not?—New Paris. A. Your child can pray anywhere be or she wants to do so. The problem is that the schools are not allowed to teach religion and thus cannot sponsor prayers. •• ♦ , Q. As a church group we would like to know what the church is do- , tag in our prisons?—Syracuse A. Unfortunately they do not do a lot, although many churches do have religious services and even give out literature. A chaplain Is present in most prisons to give guidance. ... Q. Is it wrong to be a church member and drink alcoholic beverages?—Milford. A. The first answer is that it depends upon what your church teaches. Some churches teach total abstainance while others teach that all things are to be done in temperance. Lakeland College Students In Manchester Play NORTH MANCHESTER — Several Lakeland area students at Manchester college, North Manchester, were among those selected for roles in the winter production of Eugene lonesco’s play “Rhinoceros.” This play will be presented in the college auditorium February 3, 4 and 5 under the direction of Robert Peffers, director of drama. This play gives a savage commentary on the absurdity of the human condition made tolerable by self-delusion. It shows the struggle of the individual to maintain his integrity and identity alone in a world where all others have succumbed to the “beauty” of brute force, natural energy, and mindlessness. It is one of three major plays produced by the Tri-Alpha dramatics club during the school year. In the cast from the Lakeland area are: Leo Anglin as Botard. Dennis Cory as Dudard and Mark Wagner as the case proprietor. Leo is a freshman and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Anglin of r 1 Milford. Dennis is a senior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Cory of r 1 Milford. Both young men are Milford high school graduates. Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Art) Wagner of 118 west Brooklyn street, Syracuse. He is a Syracuse high school graduate and a sophomore at the college.
