A money gift was given to the Bashor Home, and it was noted the birthday calenders had arrived. EASTERN STAR MEETS TUESDAY The Order of Eastern Star met for a regular stated meeting Tuesday evening. A gift exchange was held. Christmas Activities At Oswego Baptist Church Members of the Mary Magdalene Missionary circle met in the church Wednesday night for their Christmas meeting. The devotional period was in the charge of Mrs. Maurice Neibert. Mrs. Millie Engle presented the lesson, “Toward A Greater Tomorrow.” A gift exchange was held. Mrs. Martin Mclnturf was in charge of decorations and refreshments were served by Mrs. Maurice Neibert. Members of the Ruth circle met in the church on Thursday afternoon for a gift exchange. A pot luck dinner was served at the noon hour Miss Budah Kehr was in charge of the Christmas devotions. Secret sisters of the past year were revealed and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in singing Christmas carols and in visiting. There were 15 present The annual Christmas party of the church was held Sunday evening in the church. The group joined in singing Christmas carols and Santa came with “treats for all. WMC HOLDS DECEMBER MEETING Fourteen ladies of the Leesburg WMC assembled at the Dutchtown home of Mrs. Louis Engle for their December meeting and annual Christmas party. .After opening with the singing of Christmas carols, Mrs. Voyle Osborn offered prayer. Mrs. Edith Young continued the Bible study series in I Timothy: 4, “Prepared by Spiritual Fitness for the Master's Use.” Mrs. Bonnie Mohler then challenged the ladies to be a more faithful witness to the youth—presenting the do s and don’ts of winning young people to Christ. Several ladies reported they had adopted a missionary family to hold up before the Lord in prayer. Answers will be shared as they are received. For those not yet completing the memorization goal of II Timothy 2:15 - 26 attractive Christmas ‘ wreathes were presented bearing the same. As these are placed near the kitchen sink an unpleasant task can become one of joy as the ladies hide the word in their hearts. They were happy to learn 12 infant blankets will soon be on their way to Navajoland. This is one of the completed projects. During the business meeting, plans were discussed for the SMM progressive meal. The ladies willingly volunteered to prepare the needed food items. Discussion followed concerning the real need of a punch bowl on various occasions. Mrs. Osborn was given the authority to purchase one. During the fellowship hour delicious refreshments and Christmas goodies were served by the hostess.

Ligonier News - ' By ROSE CUNNINGHAM (Held From Last Week) Sue Hain Is LHS Queen Miss Sue Hain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hain, was chosen Queen of Ligonier high school from 10 finalists, Saturday evening at the high school gymnasium. Run-ner-up was Miss Jean Stoelting, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Stoelting. Judges for the event were Mayor John Golden and five faculty members, Charles Beck. Joe Bear, .Mrs. Retta Geiger. Mrs. Louise Rex and Marvey Sponhauer. The girls were selected on the basis of talent, poise and beauty. During the judging the audience was entertained by Miss Carol Smith, LHS music teacher, and Roger Wolf. Jim Hire was master of ceremonies and Miss Helen Kelley served as organist. State Trooper Robert Bockman Gets Promotion State trooper Robert Bockman. 38, of the Ligonier police post, has received a promotion to sergeant, and will move from this city to ! Pendleton, where he will assume his new duties as squad eomman- ' der. Bockman has been with the state police for the past eight years and has been assigned to the Ligonier post as laboratory technician. A native of Marion and an air force veteran. Bockman lives on r 1, Ligonier, with his wife, Mildred, and two children. I Amber Chevrolet Team Avenges Loss At Tri-State A fired up Amber Chevrolet ball club tore up the Tri-State Inelibi- . bles 123 to 87 last week at Ligonier, to avenge an early season I loss to the same club. Seven men scoring in double figures accomplished the win. Tri-State was led in scoring by Telesco with 24 points. In the second game of the week, j Amber trounced Kendallville Reliable Machinists 127-67. Targgart scored 29. Landon 28 and Hackett 26. Conley led Kendallville with 22. Former Kentucky varsity star, Garry’ Hall, playing with Kendallville, was held to 19-j points. Paul Michael, center, was injured in the game and will be out i of play indefinitely. This will be a big loss to the Amber team as their reserve center. Art Growcock . has enrolled at Manchester college. West Noble School Corp. To Present Program The West Noble School Corporation has been selected to present I the elementary mathematics program for the northeastern section of the 1966 Indiana State Teachers annual convention next October. They will be responsible for selecting and preparing exhibits and materials that are being used in ‘the West Noble schools. LHS French Club Entertains Parents The French club of Ligonier high school entertained their parents at a Christmas party at the school Tuesday evening. Members presented a skit under the direction of Miss Janet Saggars who also ' gave an account of the Christmas customs of France. Members then presented a medley of French Christmas carols and served refreshments to their guests. Santa To Host Benefit Ball , Plans have been completed for Santa Claus to host the Christmas Fantasy semi-formal 1 bei.dit ball to be held at Sun-E-Side Recreation Center on December 23. Bill Cochran’s orchestra will play for dancing between 9 p. m. and 1 a. m. with Sam Patton, Jr., acting as master of ceremonies for the evening. Additional entertainment for this festive occasion will be provided by, “The Soul Singers” featuring Gary Link, former band instructor in the Ligonier schools. Dale Miller 11-year-old son of Robert Miller, and member of the Ligonier dance band, will demonstrate his unusual talent on the drums with percussion solos. A pink and silver color theme has been selected by the decorating committee and tables will be centered with red candle arrangements which will later be sold for an additional donation to the project. A Christinas tree and snowballs will also decorate the ballroom. All proceeds will go to help provide a public swimming pool for Ligonier and the surrounding communities. WRC Has Carry-In Supper And Gift Exchange Members of the Womens’ Relief Corps and their families enjoyed a carry-in supper and gift exchange in the Eagles hall Monday evening. A report on the progress of the Christmas Bureau was given and names of volunteers from all of the Ligonier civic organizations participating, were read. Boxes will be packed for distribution to the needy at 130 p. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the city hall.
