Judy's 'Jems' MILFORD HIGH SCHOOL NEWS By Judy Vanlaningham The teachers <rf Milford were out to show that they cannot be outdone by the students in the field of music ability. Tuesday, to celebrate the last day before. Christmas vacation, they gave a program consisting of a band made up of teachers playing instruments of their high school days, poems and the Christmas story. To begin the Christmas vacation, Rhetama will present a Christmas dance featuring the Dukes, a well known band from Goshen. Hie theme for the dance is “Winter Wonderland.” All high school st if dents and their dates are invited. The student council, which has been active in affairs of the school this year, has organized a project to promote the spirit of giving. Boxes and cans have been set around in various places for those who wish to give to the fund for the Orn nursing home. A present will be purchased and given to the home for the benefit of those living there. Evil Smota held another hilarious meeting Tuesday to celebrate the holiday season. Mrs. Oscar Bjeila, librarian, stated she appreciated Santa making the day a happy one. Chrislmas Program Given At Milford H. S. The annual Christmas concert was presented at Milford high school on Wednesday evening with the festive decorations of the high school gym sending everyone into the wonderful mood of Christmas. Special numbers during ’ the evening featured members of the senior class; the trio; Bob Hoerr and John Beiswanger; Phil Barkey; Beth Hoover; Connie Biller; a quartet composed of Jane Baumgartner. Susanne Dewart, Brenda Wilson and Susie Price; Michelle Conn; a piano and organ duet featuring Michelle Conn and Kristi Lichtenwaiter; Cindy Beer: Jeanne Moneyheffer; and a number with Dianne Dwyer as soloist and Susie. Scott on fluet. Highlight A highlight of this year's program was Shinichi Umetsu's singing of “White Christmas” in both «English and Japanese. | Members of the juinor choir under the direction of Mrs. Justin Krieeland sang “Here We Go A ‘Wassaling." “Indian Carol” with Fred Hoerr on the strihg bass. “Come My Dear Old Lady.” “Little Drummer Boy,” “The Sleigh Ride” featuring the quintet. “Ring Little Bells” featuring the ensemble and “Carol of the Bells.”
The open house was held from 2 to 5 p. m. Friends and relatives were present from Warsaw, Mentone, Goshen, South Bend and Milford.
