List Blue Ribbon Winners Between 1,200 and 1.300 persons visited the Holiday Flower Show. "There's A Song In The Air”, held recently at Goshen college, under sponsorship of the Mr. and Mrs. Garden club of Goshen and the Garden Department of the Woman s club. Included were oxer 300 entries of various Christmas arrangements. Mrs. Radcliffe Neterer received the sweepstakes award for receiving the most ribbvns Mrs. J. N Smucker received the award of distinction fop her entry. "Throw Another Log t>n The Fire.” The beautitul brown dot' used in her display was sculptured by Mrs Smucker. Tiie playground exhibit was most interesting, demonstrating the ability of the children in - using flowers, painting materials, pine cone craft as well as seed pictures and other

crafts. Mrs. Neterer was in charge of the display. The Pioneer club of the City Church of the Brethren participated with many cone animals, Christmas decorations, and the He-Ma-Ka-Di Camp Fire girls and Den One of Parkside school cubs each exhibited a Christmas tree, which were blue ribbon winners. Other blue ribbon winners among the children were Charles Ainlay, Jr., for his seed picture of Santa Claus, using the song title, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”; Susan .Ainlay, pine cone jesters; Sue Kirkpatrick. pine cone turkey; Kevin Kirkpatrick. Christmas tree ornament; Denise .Andersen, terrarium and Laura Kasdorf, her entry in, "We Bring Our Gifts.” The conservation exhibit of Mrs. J. E. Coughman, which included milk .carton bird feeders and suet holders, was most informative, as well as her recipe for a bird pudding, “That's i For The Birds.” Mrs. Edna Miller received the award of merit in the horticultural for her fern. Mrs; Darrel Taggart of First Methodist church received a blue ribbon Tor' her shadow box depiction of i " Silent Night;” the Garden club of' Middlebury received a blue ribbon for its screen duplication of a Christmas card “Noel”. He uttered a very mild “Hang,” .<* $ But, donning his slippers and robe went below. M At the door was a lad, ragged, covered with snow. “What's the matter?" asked Joe when he saw the young lad. Ase “It’s my ma,” the boy whispered, “she’s sick —- real bad. M “I’ve got a perscripshun. Doc sent me to you. “Said he thought with this medicine he’d bring her thru." Joe nodded his head and replied, “Come on in.” M Through his tears the boy mustered a wisp of a grin. •Ji Joe dressed and together they trudged down thestreet In The snow creaked and cracked under their feet. Then into the store and back to the case. r* And Joe shook his head — the sleep to erase. He got the ingredients, checked them all twice e And then as he started to figure the price K M He glanced at the lad with His clothes all a-tatter. < And he said to himself, “Oh! What does it matter. .«< “Come on,” (to the lad), “I’ll go home with you. M "1 might as well see the thing all the way thru.” M g Then, taking the lad’s hand and saying, “Let’s go.’’ ' S He led him again thru the blustering snow. As Joe arrived home, the moon shining bright, >, Gave luster of midday to objects that night « M But Joe didn’t notice the moon or the snow. X His thoughts were back there where a lamp’s feeble glow, Vfc Had illumined a husband who bent O’er his wife and whispered, “God bless you, Joe Smith for her life.
