20 Years Ago - December 13, 19451 | On Tuesday morning the fourth liigiiest military honor bestowed upon the brave men who gallantly served under the stars and stripes — the Silver Star Medal — ‘ awarded jxisthumous'y to Corporal Roy N. Auer of the United States “s. son of Mr. and Mrs. George Auer of Milford. Corporal Auer was killed on the island of Saipan, in the Marianas Islands. OTi June 20. 1914. Remodeling and redocorating began Tuesday on the old postoffice located on the .east side of Main street, which is being readied for I occupancy by the Thomas Chevrolet Sales. The University Lutheran of Seattle. Wash . was the scene of a very pretty wedding when Miss Jacqueline Krum, erf Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Krum of Seattle, became the bride of Pfc. Charles Richard Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Miller of Milford on December 4. William Ort>a Wehrly, 83. died

I Friday at the McDonald hospital in Warsaw. He is survived by a double cousin, Mrs. Mae Kintttg. ‘ whom he resided with; a foster son, Pearle Wehrly of near Milford; a niece of Oregon; and two nephews. Lt. John Ripley is visiting Milford. He expects to go overseas in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Crist Darr celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. November 21, at their home in Syracuse. Due to Mrs. Darr’s health, only their son. Earl Darr, and family and Mrs. Edna Geyer, were invited guests.. Mrs. Shirt Clayton, last week, purchased from Clyde Homan the property on east Fourth street between the Levi Beer and John Bushong residences. Mrs. William < Chloe Dewart I Cox. 72. passed away Wednesday in her liome on. north Main street in Milford. Surviving are the husband; two. daughters. Mrs. Floyd Fuller and Mrs. Harold Tom; four grandchildren; and one great-grand-child. Last week the Milford news agency changed hands. He is survived by four sons; two sisters and six brothers. Mrs. Emma Gattshall of Youngstown. Ohio, has sold her farm, located one mile west of Milford, to Mr. Schrock of near Goshen. The farm is now occupied by Amos Om and family who will give possession about March Ist. The first community sale of the season held by the Milford Sales Company at the Clem Sale Barn, Saturday was largely attended. Mrs. Joseph Alwine and son. Por- ; ter. arrived last week from Montana and will spend some time with her mother. Mrs. Fred Ettlein. and with her sister. Mrs. W. T. Scott Mrs. Leßoy Traster and two sons. Harry and Fern, will leave on Friday for Linton, Ind., to spend a couple of months with her husband who is employed in the coal fields there. Mrs. Andrew Stoutenour of Goshen is spending a few days with her nephew, Robinson Chilcote. Raymond Roop, son of Sir. and Mrs. John Roop, east of Milford, now at Purdue university, will spend his vacation with his parents. Mr. Roop is a graduate of Milford high school with the class of 1913. Harry’ Loveland, wife and family of North Dakota, are expected in Milford, this week. Mrs. Loveland is a daughter of Sir. and Sirs. Jacob Rush, and the absence of nine years will cause the meeting to be one of very much interest to both parents and children. Charles W. Holderman who lives near Leesburg will make public sale in the near future and move to Idado. John Mellinger has opened a harness and shoe repair shop in the rear of the Helminger Jewelry store. Syracuse Civil Defense Unit Re-Elects Officers j All officers of the Syracuse unit lof civil defense were re-elected at i the regular meeting held last ; Thursday evening at the Syracuse fire station. | They are: Thomas Gilbert, chairman; Glenn Scott, treasurer; and Ronald. Robinson, secretary. I Director Floyd Schlotterback gave a report on the progress on the i civil defense building. The members voted to purchase an overhead door for the building. He reported that Larry Weaver, president of the Syracuse police and firemen's fair board, had informed him that the unit would be required to pay for booth space at the 1966 fair, but would be reimbursed for security duty performed during fair days by the fair board. Previously this had been handled on an even exchange basis, but for the purpose of records the change is being made. A thank you note was read from member Terry Rookstool for flowers received by him when he was a patient in the hospital. Court News Divorce Granted Ruth A. Hines. Syracuse, has ■ been granted a divorce from Alfred H Hines in Kosciusko circuit court They wire married December 28. 1963. and separated March 14. 1964. Files For Divorce Marian F.
