Leesburg, Milford, Webster Are Lakeland Winners

Leesburg. Milford and North Webster were Lakeland winners during last week end’s action. Syracuse, still trying hard for its first win of the year, was defeated twice. , Leesburg traveled to Huntington where they played Clear Creek on the Huntington township hardwood and held on to their winning record by defeating the host team 72-66. Leesburg is undefeated. Milford traveled to Silver Lake and defeated the Rammers 77-59 to keep their record at one toss, j North Webster’s Trojans - weret hot under the baskets Fridaynight as they scored 107 points against Wawaka's 47. Again on Saturday the Trojans won as they downed a hard playing Syracuse team 75-56. The Jackets were defeated byWarsaw 85-52 on Friday. North Webster - Wawaka The North Webster Trojans emerged victorious both Friday and Saturday nights last week. The Trojans took Wawaka Friday night with a final score of 107 to 47 and then defeated Syracuse Saturday night with a final score of 75-56 Scores by the quarters for Friday night’s game were 30-14 at the first stop. 5626 at and / 81-35 at the third stanza with Webster ahead all the way. Milford - Silver Lake By Jan Kizer The Milford Trojans downed the Ramblers 77-59 for their third straight win. bringing their totaJ to six wins and one loss for the season. During the first quarter it was anybody's ball game as the two teams battled it out, but at the half the Trojans had secured a good lead. The third quarter the Trojans got down to business and held Silver Lake to nine points as they marked up 21. High scorer for the game was Baker of Milford with 32 points. Milford had two others in double figures, Phend and Groves, with 12 and ’ll points, respectively. High for Silver Lake was Vanderpool with 15 and next was Allen with 13. Leesburg - Clear Creek Leesburg's Blue Blazers continued in their winning ways last Saturday as they traveled to Huntington township gym at Huntington to play Clear Creek. The final score: 72-66. < It was a close one all the way, | however, Leesburg led at all stops. Only three points separated the two teams at the first stanza stop when the Blazers led . 17-14.1 It was 34-26 at half time and 5348 at the third stop. Larry- Bishop led all scorers by netting 30 points for the Leesburg team. He was followed by team-1 mate Jack Stookey with 20. Warsaw did it first on Friday night 85-52 and Webster followed Saturday night 75 to 56. The Niles brothers, Ben and Mike, led the scoring with 15 points a piece followed by Bauer, of Syracuse, with 14. Clevenger of .Syracuse, 10 points, Essen burg, 12 points, and Barah. 11 points were the only other players in the double figtires. All of Warsaw’s players entered the scoring column. Warsaw outrebounded the Jackets by one rebound 35 to 34 and also had fewer errors with 21 to the Jackets 26. The Tigers hit 46 per cent from the field and .'4 per,

MILFORD IN HOLIDAY TOURNEY; OTHER ACTION This week end the Milford Trojans will participate in a four-way tourney with Larwill, W’olf Lake and Cromwell. The tourney will be held both Friday and Saturday and will be at Wolf Lake. Leesburg, having played in a tourney Tuesday and Wednesday, does not play this week end. Chuck and Terry, of Milford went to Ohio over the week end of December 11-12 to attend the funeral of Mr. Beres’ brother-in-law. While there Mr. Beres met a sister from Czechoslovakia who he had not seen before.

The central offices of the two corporations have been working closly on the transfer. Business manager Don Arnoldl showed the board a copy of the' new corporation insurance policy. ( It is a package policy and will go: into effect on January 1. Mr. Arnold was given approvall to investigate purchases of type- 1 writers, sewing machines, phys ed equipment, band instruments and, industrial arts and agriculture e-! quipment for the several corporation I schools. He will report his findings at later meetings. Teacher Resigns . Mrs. Verna Helen (Enochs) Weaver, sixth grade teacher at North Webster, has resigned her position as of the end of the first semester because of her recent marriage. The resignation was expected. Mr. Immel reported to the board all the old records of persons graduating from schools in the Lakeland corporation have been turned over to him from county superintendent Glen Whitehead. Mr.
