One merchant we know is grateful for Mr. R. A. for saving his business for him and there are others we understand. "Evidently he has stepped on some toes socially and politically and it hurts, to the extent some would like to see him leave town, but evidently he isn’t the kind to run. He is a kind and helpful neighbor and won t step on toes if not necessary. “An interview with Mr. R. A. might reveal some interesting things.” (Bdfar’s Note: The term recovery agent is no dig. but a term Mr. Preston gave himself when this : col-1 «imn inquired As to the exact nature i of his title.) ! The letter concludes. “In the end I believe that a lot of people in Plain township are going to he unpleasantly surprised and find that we have lost a lot more than we have gained.” Tooy Strombeck. town marshal at North Webster, is openly tolling friends he plans to run again for sheriff of Kosciusko county next year on the Republican ticket. rumor we heard last week that the Catholic churches at Pierceton and Ligonier will be closed in favor of a new, enlarged Catholic church in the Syracuse area. The report persists that the Fort Wayne officialdom is scouting a 10acre plot of ground not too far south of Syracuse along road 13 for the new church. Dick AU, who was in the furniture business in Ligonier, is nowhelping the Bill Brammers through the Christmas season. He is a furniture salesman, but is dow awaitJ ing change to new lines. » • • ♦ ‘ Coach Ken Workman appears depressed at the showing of the Jackets so far this year, but hopes to have them shaped up by county tournament time. Old ' standby John Longenbaugh, benched so far this year because of illness, played the other night a few moments, but fatigued quickly. The expected “rumble” at the Nappanee-Elkhart game at Nappanee Friday night failed to materialize. About 25 police officers were on hand, just in case. Warsaw assistant coach and for-, mer Syracusan Burt Niles drove to .Manchester Friday night, but found that gym dark. He then drove to Nappanee to see the highly touted Nap Elk. game.
