Legion-Auxiliary Has Fall Festival; Meeting Held The final plans ware made for the annual fall festival sponsored jointly by the Herbert Kuhn Post and the Legion Auxiliary at the meeting held last Tuesday night in the Legton home. The festival was held in the home Saturday night with a dinner and bazaar from 5 to 8 and game session m which 25 turkeys were given away. Announcement of a Christmas partv for the past presidents was made. It will be held in December with a dinner at Foo and Fayes restaurant south of Syracuse. President's projects were won by Mrs. Verland Bockman. Mrs. Paul Beezlev and Mrs. Virginia Schafer. I Mrs. Esther Bodkin received die I door prize. Mrs. George Ellison and Mrs. Donald Cretcher served cold cuts, cheese and crackers with coffee to the 14 members present. -XWBackwater Friends Have Christmas Workshop Mrs. Arden Rider was hostess to tKe Backwater Friends Home Dem-; onstratioh dub in her home Thursday night. The lesson. “Where The Women Are." was given by Mrs, Kathryn Coy who used a chart composed of circles representing the various levels of womens’ service and showing the eight /different compass points on the outer circle representing the different fields in which women may serve. Some of those mentioned were the need for women working both in and out of the church, working in government, working with the United Fund. Red Cross and other char.t.ible organizations and with the PTA and other educational groups. Mrs Earl Himes. Mrs F. E. Fribloy and Mrs Albert Hamman. Sr, served donuts and cider. Xyy Hi Neighbors Club Club Announces __ Christmas Plans The Hi Neighbors did) met Ttasday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Bernard Roberts with 12 ladies anti two children present. The business meeting was given to a discussion -of plans for the Christmas project (boxes of food will be packed for distribution in this area/ Plans were made for a Christmas party to be held in the home of Mrs. Robert Bowser of Dewart lake with a carry-in dinner at do* and a gift exchange in the afternoon. The election of officers for the coming year resulted in rot wining the same date of officers who have served this past year: Mrs. Thurlow Mock, president; Mrs. Ralph Coy, vice president; Mrs. Dallas Cox. secretary; and Mrs. Pad Oilers, treasurer. The social hour was spent playtag a number of games and the hostess served angle food cake, ice cream and coffee. •«

HOME ARTS CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. PERRY The Home Arts club of Milford met Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the home of Mrs. William Perry. The meeting was opened by president Mrs. P. D. McFarren, who used the pledge to the flag. Mrs. Hubert Cain read an article, “Thanksgiving Thoughts” and a poem, “I Ought to be Thankful.” Mrs. Perry Hoover gave the history <rf the song of the month,. “Now Thank We All Our God,” after which Mrs. Perry played it on the organ while the group sang. Mrs. L. H. Humphrey gave the safety remarks entitled “Be Safety Minded” which pertained to traffic safety. Garden remarks on the “Bitter , Alovera Cactus” were given by Mrs. Pardee Warstler who also gave toe lesson on the Christmas workshop. Response to roll call was "Where I’d like to spend Christmas.” Mrs. Doral McFarren gave the secretary-treasurer’s report. A student at the University of Cincinnati, James Stefanski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stefanski of Syracuse, left last Saturday from Cincinnati for Washington, D. C., where he is attending the National Convention of Student Chapters of the American Institute of Architects. He was chosen as one of the four delegates from toe university. After his return to Cincinnati from the convention on Thanksgiving day he and his roommate Fred Rieber of Newburg, N. Y., will spend Friday and Saturday with his parents at Syracuse.
