Leesburg Thwarts Topeka 79-48 Leesburg’s Blue Blazers won their second gaine of the season Friday night by thwarting Topeka 70-48 on the Blazers* hardwood, Leejdiurg led at every, stop. The Topeka Bears were trailing by only three, 15-12. at the end of the first quarter. Coach Jack Ford’s quintet lim nd the Bears to just six points in the second session while tliey basketed 17 points, / > Tlie Bears having trouble hitting from the field netted M 3 points in the third period while Leesburg made 25 points. The Blazers still continued to pour it on in the final period by tossing in 22 points for the final scone of 7MB. Larry Bishop was the top scorer for Leesburg with 24 markers. He was aided in the attack by Jack Stookey who netted 22 tallies and Norm Dukes with 11 points. Milford Downs North Webster • 65-43 Last Friday By Mark Ramser Jim Allen's Milford Trojans threw a decisive victory Friday night against North Webster on the Webster hardwood. Final score was 65-43. Tills was a Milford home game: ... The red and white Trojans trailed by -six at the end of the first period 14-8 and were able to make eight * points in the second session while Milford Trojans netted 17 for a half time score of 31-16. Webster outscored Milford in the third quarter by seven points to {come within eight points for a third oeriod score of 49-41 -An excellent Milford defense was shown in the final quarter by holding- Webster to only two points. Park Phend and Verl Baker showed excellent rebounding. Together thev out rebounded the Webster team. Wuthrich was noticed also keeping the ball in action for the iTrojans. Wayne Teeple, cashier of the ibank, reported Monday eight large plate glass windows were damaged, jit is thought the scratches and marks were made with a stone and the damage was done by vandals. MAN BURIED — A workman | points to the 10-foot trench where I workman. Franklin Delano Geiger, 1 was accidentally buried alive at 1:15 { p.m. today (Wednesday). Knapp Lake Man Buried Alive Today Franklin Delano Geiger, 31-year-oid Knapp Lake (r 1 Cromwell) resident, died of asphyxiation at 1:15 p.m. today (Wednesday) when he iwas buried in a 10-foot trench at the comer of W. E. Long road and North Shore Drive at Syracuse. . Geiger was laying sewer pipe in the trench when the accident occur- ! red. He was reportedly buried under four feet of dirt. j Gale Benner, a Syracuse fireman, and Norris Wise were working with Geiger at the time of the accident. Benner reported the accident to the : Syracuse city police desk and Bill Hess, who was on duty, notified authorities. The body was taken to the Harris ! funeral home, and Dr. J. B. Mishler, county coroner, was there at 3 p.m. to pronounce Geiger dead. A state trooper said Geiger suffered a fractured left clavicle. His next of kin was notified by [authorities. At the time of this writing no funeral arrangements were .made, .
