I RODGER W. LAWSON Rodger W. Lawson Completes Marksmanship Course At Fort Riley, Kan. Rodger W. Lawson, United States army, assigned to detachment 17 fifth army ROTC instructor group, Luther L. Wright high school, has completed the United States army marksmanship instructor's course at Fort Riley, Kans. He was also promoted from staff sergeant to sergeant first class. Sergeant Lawson is the senior instructor and assistant professor of military science at Ironwood, Mich., where he lives'with his wife Sharon, daughter of the James H. Byrds of Syracuse. Sgt. and Mrs. Lawson have two children, Kirby and Karen ; Sfc. Lawson graduated from Cromwell high school where he was captain of the basketball team. He attended Indiana university before entering the Uinted States army in October 1960. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, S|p., then was transferred to Fort Carson. Colo., where he attended the Fort Carson “NCO” academy, completing fifth in a class of 117 nbn-com-missioned officers. From Fort Carson Sfc. Lawson was transferred to Fort Hood, Tex., where he served with the 2d armored division as an instructor in its basic training unit. From Fort Hood Sfc. Lawson went to Korea where he joined the 7th division, while with toe division headquarters. Sfc. Lawson was promoted to SSG- E-6 as an operations seregant for the headquarters commandmant. Sfc.
