Court of Honor Held For Syracuse Boy Scout Troop
A very fine court of honor was held for Boy Scout troop 28 of Syracuse last Thursday evening in the Boy Scout cabin with members of the troop being honored with awards. The program followed a pot luck dinner for 150 boy scouts, parents and guests. Receiving awards were as follows: Life to Eagle — David Bushong.

Following the presentation of tenderfoot awards by Robert Reed, Second class awards by Dr. Wendell Shank, first class awards by William T, Jones, Jr., and merit badges by Earl Money, state trooper Darrell Bauer gave a talk to the group, highlighting the merits of the boy scout program. His remarks appeared to have a special meaning to the scouts and parents present Star awards were presented by school superintendent Lewis S. ImmeE life awards by Dr. Jack Clark. Eagle Award The highlight of the award presentation, however.- was the presentation of the eagle award to David Bushong, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bushong. The presentation was made by Syracuse Scoutmaster John Van Lue, in the presence of David’s parents. David then pinned the eagle scout pin on his mother’s lapel. Earlier an orchid had been presented Mrs. Bushong by MC Tucker. I The meeting was called to order by troop committee chairman George Bushong and a pledge to ' the flag was given by all those present. Rev August Lundquist presented an invocation and later a closing prayer. Jay Peffley. president of the sponsoring Rotary club, was introduced anti he presented members of the Rotary club who were present. The service was conducted by candlelight, following the lifting of candles by Mike Brower and Terry Miller and 12 other scouts.
Harry Martin and Carl Helman Return From European Tour Harry Martin of Milford and Carl Helman of New Paris returned home Thursday from a 17-day European tour. They flew to London where they went on a Globus tour, visiting the countries of England. Holland. Germany, Austria, Italy. France and Switzerland.
