him which the neighbor across the street had ‘given him. He said “Gerry gave me this badge - see. it says. “Champion Frog Catcher of bong -Bench”. Os couse it didn’t, but all the neighbors agreed with him. The best one he pulled, and it is always brought up in conversation when we see any of our Long Beach friends, was an incident that happened when he stopped in to visit neighbor Annie. She had just inherited one of those little decorative pepper plants that were quite the rage some time back. Billy was curiously examining it. and in so doing, he. pinched one of the little peppers which broke and squirted juice in his eye. , . It was his nature to be very dramatic about everything and he I really put on an act. “Call the ambulance! Get a doctor! I am going blind!” This was complete wjjh all gestures, and Annie was panicked. Her first impulse was to rinse his eye out with water, but his antics continued with even more fervor. Annie called a neighbor seeking her advice for this great emergency. The neighbor advised warm milk. Billy quickly inquired why she was warming milk and she told him, it wak to wash out and relieve his burning eye. As fast as the dramatics started, they ended, as he calmy sa:d “Would you mind making that a glass of hot chocolate”. After his glass of hot chocolate, he continued on his morning rounds.
