20 YEARS AGO, AUGUST 23, 1945 A six o’clock dinner was served • last Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Bare and family at Mentone in honor of the 16th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. David H. Price of Milford. Marriage licenses have been issued by county clerk Ernest Bushong as follows: Adlai S. Miller, farmer. Arthur. 111., and Clara B. Mullett. daughter of Ben Mullett, r 2 Milford; W Eugene Blackbum, hardware clerk. Atwood, and Waneta Mock. Syracuse. I Miss June Kline, who has long been a valued member of the Mil- j ford teaching force, has resigned to j become a teacher in a large consolidated school near South Bend. Her sister, Mrs. Lucille Annis of Lake-1 ville. is also a teacher in this school. Ralph Miller of Mtolferman s Mar-1 ket had the misfortune to break his arm Monday evening. At the close of a treasure hunt the announcement of the marriage of their daughter. Bernice, to Delbert Fox, son of Mr and Mrs. Roy Fox of Milford, was j made. The wedding took place May I 25. 1935. at Knox. Ind. Miss Gwendolyn Fisher was crowned “Miss Goshen” in a bathing beauty contest at Goshen at die Jefferson theatre Thursday. Mrs Clayton Webber and three children of Hinsdale. 111., have been I guests of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rohrer at Goshen, and her Sister, Mrs. Fred Mathews, and family at Milford. • - A daughter was bom August 20 to Mr. and Mrs Walter Smith of Syracuse. Weekly Fishing Report Fishing has picked up over last week, as good trout . . . two weighing five pounds were taken out of Lake -of . the - Woods in LaGrange county. Our fieldmen also reported some very good smallmouth bass showing up in Oliver Lake. Northwestern Indiana Fishing activity has picked up in this district, especially in the St. Joe and Tippecanoe rivers. White <silver> bass are biting in Lakes Shafer and Freeman. Lake Michigan fishermen continue to get a fair amount of perch. Crappie and bluegill fishing continues generally fair throughout this area. Northeastern Indiana Very good trout were caught last week at Lake-of-the-Woods in La Grange county, two weighing five pounds. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are hitting in Oliver Lake. Bluegill catches are reported taken from North Twin Lake, Appleman Lake, and Mirror Lake. In Noble county, pike are hitting in Lakes Waldron and Bartley. Bass fishing is looking up as good catdies were taken from Cree Lake and Smalley Lake ... a few weighing three pounds. Sackrider Lake fishermen cauglit several good bluegills this last week end. Bluegills also w-ere taken at Beaver Dam and Secrest Lakes in Kosciusko county.
