ENTERTAINMENT Teddie Mercer Appearing At Yellow Banks | Talented and charming Teddie Mercer, the pianist who sings, jokes and otherwise provides a running flow of chatter, is appearing at the Ship’s Bar at the Yellow Banks Hotel. She began Monday night and will be appearing for an indefinite period. so states manager Johnnie Bowden. Teddie. who is the niece of popular songwriter Johnny Mercer—but who makes no effort to market his good name—has made the big time on her own. She comes to the lake area from Chicago, but calls Cape Girardo, Mo., her home town. She was born in Savannah. Ga., and ran away to New York for a theater career at the tender age of 15. She became friends of the ageless Sophia Tucker, and admits “Sophia taught me all I know about show business.” She also says, “I’m a fisherman, and want to do some fishing while at Webster Lake. r Teddie starts at 8 each evening, playing on her Hammond organ, and provides ah evening of real fun until 1 p. m.
